tru_blu_ozzie saidYet look at all the gays and lesbians who foolishly voted him in for a second term, thinking he would give them the self advancement they wanted; how easily they were manipulated, for their vote.
yet in Australia our Prim Minister Tony Abbott, has been transparent and said same sex marriage; or gay marriage as many of you use, is a federal decision, and not a state one, and he will not support Same Sex marriage! Thus Australia will have to wait for a new PM, and he was transparent about this before he was elected.
Obama eliminated DADT, so gays & lesbians could serve in the US military. Which Republicans still oppose. And he stopped enforcing the Federal Section 3 of DOMA barring recognition of same-sex marriage, a provision the US Supreme Court subsequently declared unconstitutional. Despite Republican Congressional petitions to the Court that DOMA be upheld, an action which Republican Presidential candidate Romney backed.
Meanwhile, your Australian PM, according to you, "will not support same sex marriage". How is that better than Obama actually pushing for gay rights, like no US President before him?
Yet you claim US gays were "manipulated" by Obama? Please explain in what way. And how Romney would have benefited us more. Obama has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to US gays and gay civil rights in US history.
We'd have even more now if it weren't for Republican opposition in Congress, using the Senate filibuster and other procedural means, even when Democrats slightly outnumbered them at the beginning of Obama's first term.
