So Tobby has been missing for almost 24 hours now and I can't stop crying cuz I beleive someone has stolen her from me icon_cry.gif cuz Tobby and me are so close and I love her dearly..

I found Tobby as a stray cat 3 months ago (actually she found me icon_redface.gif she came up to my doorstep starved and cold icon_cry.gif

and I took her in.. she's an indoor-outdoor cat and regularly goes outside almost daily and she always comes back and was allowed to go back out again. I also checked on her every now and then and she came whenever I called her name or put food in her kitten house just outside my door. Today, though, there was no response from her after 30 minutes of frantically

searching(NEVER happened before icon_cry.gif I'm sure that someone stole her because she never does this and it has not happened beforeicon_cry.gif and because I've seen random strangers approach her but i'm confident that Tobby is smart enough to escape from whatever trouble she's probably in right nowicon_cry.gif, and that she will find her way back homeicon_cry.gif

Cats will go explore if they get out. If she is in heat, she will go look to mate. Once she has her fill she will return to where she knows where she gets fed.

24 hours is not long enough to file a missing report.
There is a strong chance your cat is flirting or exploring but in any case i hope you find your cat.

Perhaps she headed back to her original home. Cats are good at finding their way home. Sorry, I'm sure you miss her. Give her time though.

This is very true for in/outdoor cats. Sometimes they disappear for a week or more--but they come back when they're ready. Just to say, don't give up hope just yet. She may yet return and I hope she does.

Perhaps your cats a bit of a stray at heart and goes from home to home in which case she may just turn up again. I'm glad I don't have to worry about my cat she hates the outdoors now she is old.

I had a stray, Obama the Cat, that would come and go all the time. He would stick around for a few months and then be gone for a few weeks only to show up one day at the back door wanting to be fed. Like yours, I had a cat house for him. He was an old cat when I found him, so he is gone now, but the thing is, strays live differently than a cat raised as house cat from birth. Cats are independent and strays even more so. Have hope, because there is a very good chance she will return.

Guys I got some good news. I finally found Tobby icon_biggrin.gif Found her 5 blocks away in the mall parking after a week of hopelessly searching!

But she is beyond scared.. She's hiding in under the sofa doesn't wanna eat or drink or do anything.. just lying there all tired and in shock.. How long will it take for her to become normal again? I'm afraid she could be sick or something!icon_cry.gif

Maybe gone feral. My friends cat went missing. Turns out it was in my mums garden because my mum lives on the same street. My mate approached the cat she's lived with for 10 years and the cat didn't recognise her, scratched her and ran off never to be seen again. I guess it's the cat equivalent of going crazy. My cats 21 and fortunately the craziest thing she does is eat cat litter and lick the window lol.

Leave food for her while you are out, and ignore her, wait for her to come to you. It sounds like she might have had a traumatic experience with another person.

I'm happy you found her. She's obviously been traumatized. She needs to feel safe and that may take time. Make sure her litter is always clean and there is food and water for her. Don't try to make her do anything. Let her be so she can heal. When she does come out show that you are happy to see her but don't force yourself on her or try to control her if she wants to hide again. I don't know if you know how to "speak cat"… they do have certain calls they make to show happiness, for example. One sound is sort of like "bugudnow?" (the last syllable sounding like it is a question). Anyway, don't force yourself on her. You might also check out some episodes of "My Cat From Hell" http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/my-cat-from-hell that deal specifically with cat trauma.

If I was a cat owner this is the advice I would take. I'm glad you found your cat! If she doesn't eat for awhile and loses weight, a trip to the vet might be necessary.

    I'm so glad for you.

Have her spayed, and don't let her outside again. The lifespan of outdoor cats is vastly shorter than those of indoor cats.
