Michigan's AG's request for an immediate freeze was denied. The Appeals court wants to hear from both sides by noon on Tuesday before making a decision about a stay, so it looks like marriages will continue at least into Tuesday morning. The four counties that began today will be joined by Macomb and Livingston counties on Monday morning.

The federal appeals court should just deny any stay and tell all the NARROW MINDED BIBLE THUMPING SCREWBALLS to go fuck themselves.

I wonder how that impacts all the couples who got their marriage licenses today? Are they still allowed to go through with their weddings?

The stay is only on issuing new licenses, correct?

I am not sure how it will affect the couples married today or the ones who only received their licenses but chose not to marry at this time. I guess those decisions will be made by the Appeals court. There is a chance this case will never make it to the Supreme Court. The court moves slow and the question of marriage equality is expected to be on the ballot in Michigan in 2016. The latest poll in Michigan shows 54% support same-sex marriage and 36% oppose, so it will very likely pass. If the case hasn't made it to the Supreme Court by then, there would be no reason to continue the case.

Another case where Republican politicians demand the court issue an "emergency" stay to halt marriage equality.
Isn't it interesting what Republicans consider an "emergency?"

    IS NOT an emergency:
    - Millions of jobless Americans
    - Millions of homeless Americans
    - 1 in 4 American children living in poverty
    - Catastrophic climate change

    IS an emergency:
    - Two men (or women) love each other and want to get married

So nice to see the Republicans have their priorities in order.
The one thing they can agree on is how much they hate gay Americans.

***SIGH*** You haven't been listening to our Right Wing brothers here on RJ, have you? Repeat after me:

    - US Republican lawmakers LOVE gays.
    - Republicans only act in our best gay interests.
    - US gays should always vote for Republicans, never for Democrats.
    - Democratic lawmakers HATE gays.
    - Democrats never represent our best gay interests.
    - President Obama hates gays the most of all, and has never done a single thing that's good for us.

Now just keep saying that mantra, and be sure to vote a straight Republican ticket (pun intended) this November, to make sure our gay civil rights remain intact, and even expand. icon_biggrin.gif

Not all republicans hate us gay Americans. It is only the tea party and the FLAKY FUNDAMENTALISTS that hate our guts. Please stop saying that ALL REPUBLICANS hate us. that is totally false. Major changes are on the way for the GOP and whether you EXTREMIST LIBERAL HENS like it or not, the republican party will become very competitive because it will become more inclusive of other groups of people including us gays.

    roadbikeRob,

I did a search for "all Republicans," but that term only came up in your post, not KissTheSky's post.

By saying Republicans, he is falsely assuming that all republicans are against us gays which is not true. If he would have accurately stated right wing repubs. or conservatives than I would not have had any problem with his posting. You need to carefully read before jumping to conclusions about what I say.

Has it occurred to you that he may be speaking in general terms? Sure, he didn't use a modifier, but look at the context. You would have noticed that if you "carefully read before jumping to conclusions."

Using a modifier can help solve a lot of problems. He needs to get into the habit of doing so and stop speaking in general terms. That is something all you EXTREMIST LIBERAL HENS should learn how to do before shooting your mouths off.

    "only the tea party"

I'm going to dispute that too. If you have XM in your car or have access to XM at home, give this guy a listen.

Really? I consider myself cautious, and recent examples would show that. So it's not my medicine.
