This is a question for those who have used steroids.

What were the side effects which you noticed?

(And if you could mention the name of what you took and the frequency/dose, this would be also helpful).

Very interested to hear your experiences, positive or negative.

    Cheers

You can easily find the negative medical effects steroids have on the body with a google search. You can search by steroids in general or by a specific type, they're effects are pretty well known

    I don't think he's looking for a medical side-effects page.
He wants stories on people's experience with them. . .

I have a lot friends who use steroids. From what I can tell side effects include increased lean muscle mass. They also seem to get undue attention at gay clubs especially when they dance shirtless.

I respect a guy who can at least admit to using steroids (even if it was in the past) over a guy who denies and acts like he is ALL natural

yup based on what I have been told by persons who used them are some of them are.

    1. lean and large muscles.
    2. small testicles.
    3. you can become puffy if you rely on steroid use and
    working out regularly.
    4. skin problems with acne.

There is a difference between steroid use and steroid abuse. Abuse has lots of negative side effects. Proper use avoids those

Lean and large muscles are not side effects, they are intended effects.

AAS side effects vary in function of drug, dosage, duration, genetic propensity to a specific side effect (balding, acne, gyno, etc) and use of ancillary drugs. All side effects you mentioned are avoidable and the fitness models many people think are natural because they don't have these side effects are actually very savvy on avoiding them when they juice.

Go to the waiting room at the urology department and talk to the younger guys in there. Better yet, ask the urologist.

And their genitals shrink and their bodies start to look fake as fuck. Using steroids is fuckin weak!

There was a link in one of the thread about steroids that was about a writer that used steroids and what he went through. It was very interesting. I'm having trouble finding it right now though because there are so many threads about steroids:

    I found it....

From Mr Average ... to superman

In 16 weeks, Craig Davidson, a Canadian novelist, transformed himself into a hard-as-nails hunk by injecting illegal steroids. He loved his new body - but not the hideous side-effects. In this graphic account of being a 'roider', he recounts his hellish journey

I don't know if a blanket statement like this can just be made. Genitals don't always shrink, and if they do it's just the testicles; not the penis. Also there are a lot of men that suffer from very low levels of testosterone, which affects them not just physically, but mentally so I don't think using steroids is weak. On top of that, not everyone who takes them abuses them to the point that their bodies look fake.

I dunno. Davidson's article can't be taken too seriously. He did for the sake of writing an article. He felt/looked like shit because he didn't know what he was doing. Guys that are serious about taking steroids will do the right research. Take a look at the Adam Charlton pic I posted above. That boy did his homework.

What is the point of taking steroids?
What's the rush to develop muscles?
Why not just work on your real strength and not rely on steroids because once you stop taking it, you'll notice what your true strength is and it's just going to annoy you and drive you to continue abusing steroids.

Plus to be honest, I think the percentage of people who don't "abuse" steroids (although I think taking them at all is already abuse) is very, very small.

I live near a gym that is located in a shopping mega plex, and the amount of people I hear who hire personal trainers from a gym who are instructed and provided by their gym instructors to take steroids is astoundingly common.

Fair enough to those who want to take it, it's your life and you do want you want with it but just for me personally I don't see the point or value really in taking steroids ever.

Just because they look good on the outside does not mean they are doing it correctly....that is if it can be done correctly. I don't know much about steroids. I have never really studied the actual use of specific steroids. But they are obviously messing with the body's natural chemistry.

As someone mentioned in this thread, too often the guys who juice pretend they're natural. This is a great disservice to the community and your thinking is a demonstration of the damage these guys do.

If you think you can achieve fitness model, porn star body type if only you do everything right on diet, training and recovery, unfortunately you are misinformed. There are natural limits to muscle growth, you will NOT grow forever if you train forever. It's not, as you say, a matter of patience, but a matter of natural limits. Oftentimes a fitness model will have lean mass gains of 70, 80, 90lbs. Natural guys rarely cross the 30lbs mark. People grossly underestimate how much mass it takes to achieve a certain look.

These guys who pretend they're natural distort everyone's standards and impede the reflection that would make people realize that, maybe... they're only into juiced guys.

For 6 of the last 9 months I have been on a literally perfect diet (for bulking anyway), eating 5 meals a day of things like broccoli, chicken, sweet potatoes, brown rice and so on. Literally no sweets/cake/alcohol or anything like that. Supplements every day as well. I have improved a fair bit but nowhere near my goal of 110kg weight let alone 12% body fat. I will keep trying though, without using steroids.

    Well
    1) It takes time
    2) It's a combination of what exercises, exercise volume, reps, sets, weight amount, and many other things.

    Thanks guys for your responses.

The reason that I ask this is because:

    1. If you take any medicine, even the most common over-the-counter ones such as Panadol, just open up packet and read the fine print. You will find a truckload of potential side effects. The key is, they are potential only. In reality most of us use these simple drugs because they work and it appears from anecdotal evidence that they do not cause serious problems.

    2. With steroids, I wonder what percentage of people could say "I used steroids, I didn't abuse them and I achieved great gains with little to no side effects that I noticed".

Reads like fiction. He should do some research before writing this type of BS. People do not benefit from bad information.

MTV: True Life - I´m on steroids
This was a decent episode and more realistic about who uses steroids and why. They followed around 3 guys..

    - Cliche gay guy that only wanted to get more attention. He had NO idea what he was doing. He ordered a vile of something and that's pretty much all he took. Had the least results.

    - Fitness model. Claimed he had medically diagnosed low testosterone. Got regular injections from presumably a doctor, as well as self-administered. I'm sure he was on other stuff.

    - Aspiring MMA fighter. Wanted to improve his strength and stamina. He didn't look jacked like most would think. I'd say this is the case for most professional and collegiate athletes. Most of them are on something. But they don't look like the stereotypical musclehead.

I know many many guys who have done steroids. All of them have had side effects. The important thing is if they think the results justified the risks and side effects. All the guys I knew thought the benefits far outweighted the negatives. This is not true of everybody.

Some here have voiced the opinion that using steroids is somehow cheating at life, giving an unfair advantage. I would say the same about guys born into wealth, or born with beauty. Did they deserve that? So I have a hard time judging guys who use steroids.
