    There was Cher!

Any of y'all going to see her on her D2K tour this year?

I wasn't all that excited about going but my partner kept nagging me to get tickets. After seeing clip from the current tour, it looks like it is gonna be a really good show. Excited to see her when she plays Orlando in May.

If I had a boyfriend and he was interested, I'd definitely go, but not a huge fan. A few of her songs I find very catchy so why not.

I've seen her twice. I wasn't a huge fan before seeing her perform live but she does put on a good show especially when touring as opposed to the residency in Vegas. She looks in good form in the promo for the D2K tour so I'm hoping for something good!

You know, I had a Sonny & Cher record when I was four years old. That's kinda scary...
Anyway, she looked better with her real nose.

But... the thread title could as easily be about Debbie Harry, who is about the same age, and it turns out, is also on tour this year.

Well Jeez, so is Bat Benatar. I'd go see either of them before Cher.

Good Grief! Chrissie Hynde also has a new album coming out this year, and she's older than all of the above! No tour dates that I can find though.

Of course there was also Bette Midler, Liza Minelli, Barbara Streisand, and before them Judy Garland.

I would see all of those artists before seeing Cher. Im not a Cher fan at all and i dont get why gay men love her so much. I always wondered if it is because she looks and sounds like a man in drag.

I also think Blondie would be a good pick to see. Weird, they were a punk/new wave band at first the next thing they put out a disco song and then a song where she raps. They later put out "Tide is High" which was reggae based.

Some other great names mentioned here - I especially like Pat Benatar, Bette Midler, and Olivia Newton John. I've seen Pat and Bette in concert but never Olivia. Would love to though.

Pat Benatar is actually opening some of the dates on D2K. When the show is in Orlando, it will be Cyndi Lauper. I've only seen her in concert once - way back in the 80s - so I'm excited to see her again too.

I'm a fan. And i actually like the new album..but after 12 years it sounds EXACTLY like the last one!!
And from the footage I've seen on youtube the new tour looks the same as the last one!!
Beginning: video montage of past videos and movies over a cheesy techno remix..
Giant curtain comes down with Cher dressed in over the top las vegas meets indian cherokee outfit..
Gigantic beaded head dress (even bigger this time) where backup dancer carefully removes so that wig doesn't come off etc..

Not only that, but "rapture" was the 1st rap song to hit number 1. "The Tide is High" was one of the 1st Latin influenced songs to hit number 1. Not bad for a new wave/punk band fronted by a white woman.

Yeah, who haven't heard of Cher's technopop songs playing nonstop in the dance clubs in the 90's? icon_biggrin.gif

Olivia Newton-John came to Bangkok last year. I heard her concert was packed.
