I can't look. Years ago, I found a site where you could pick out the kind of disabled person you were looking for (like a missing a leg or two missing arms) from a drop-down.
It really freaked me out - not that those people don't deserve love - but it still freaked me out.

Forgive me, but why did you refer to us as 'those people'? Read the article. It might surprise you and change your worldview.

    Why wouldn't I? It wasn't condescending.
Besides, I missed the part where you said you wrote the article yourself or I wouldn't have gone off on a tangent. Okay, I'll read it.

I founded a site for handicapped gays. I think it still exists. But I became so disabled myself I couldn't maintain it. And then I forgot my own password and couldn't return.

I recovered, and oddly my husband still gets email from them. He had joined it before he & I had met. Life's coincidences are really amazing at times. Sometimes I think I'm living in a Dickens novel.

jmusmc85 saidI admire your confidence and sense of humor in all this, but TBH I don't think I could ever be sexual with a person with a major disability. Call me selfish, immature, whatever...it's just me.... * shrug *icon_neutral.gif

I appreciate your honesty. But, you never know until you try, right? How do you know you wouldn't enjoy it?

    OK I read it.
You write well, which I don't say lightly because most people today can't string a sentence together. Your article flowed smoothly without my having to reread any sentences.
The content was intriguing but I felt like I was just getting a hint of what you were trying to say. Specifics would have been insightful.
Also, just to be clear, I was not saying before that I was freaked out by disabled people. I was freaked out to learn that so many people were actively seeking people with specific missing limbs. It kind of threw me.

I've never dated a person with disabilities, but I did hook up with a guy once many years ago and it was pretty good. I had noticed him at the bar because he had very nice arms. I like that. I happened to be leaving the same time he was and it had began snowing so I offered to help push his chair through the snow to his car, but when we had to cross the street I decided to get a running start to push through the snow bank at the curb, not knowing it had frozen ice hard. When I hit the snow bank with his chair, he went flying out of it and landed in the street. By the time I helped him back into the chair, we had a few minutes to talk so I ended up following him home. The sex was good and he gave me his number and told me to give him a call. I never got around it to it, but always wish I had. We had sex in his bed, but I was kind of turned on by the idea of meeting up with him again and having sex on wheels.

This is literally the first time I've heard of this activity as a form of foreplay. Kudos.

    Yikes!
And I did it to my father several times.

Curious what you recovered from if you don't mind sharing?

Disability can cover so many things. It's not necessarily always missing limbs, or stuck in a wheel chair, or even mental problems. These seem to be the kinds of illnesses that come to mind for most when disability is mentioned.

It can simply be any chronic illness that has forced limitations or changes on someone's everyday life.

The impact of these on hooking up and dating is going to vary a lot from person to person.

I'm open to all that life throws my way. I would not be opposed to having a sexual encounter with a disabled person. Here's a nice specimen.

I had a date with a paraplegic. It was weird, but not because of his disability. He was a very strange dude.

I guess someone in a South African prison will have the opportunity to have sex with this disabled guy.

As a person who grew up surrounded by people with disabilities, that article was a fantastic read.

...and a glaring example of something the LGBT and straight community both need to work on.

He shot his girlfriend in his bathroom 4 times and killed her. He hasn't been convicted yet, but at the very least he'll get negligent homicide.
