    Hi guys,

I'm heading to Yangon, Myanmar tomorrow and will be in that country for the whole month of April. Primarily going there to have some water festival fun.

If you are or will be in the region, say hi! icon_cool.gif

Also share your experiences if you've been there, particular about the gay culture.

Myanmar is a very interesting choice for travel.

Although I have not been to Myanmar, much less Southeast Asia, a friend of mine has traveled to Myanmar, as well as Thailand and Cambodia. From what he told me, Myanmar is a very beautiful place but often unstable and wary of foreigners, especially from the West. This doesn't mean that people will be unfriendly; rather, there will be some suspicion as to why you are visiting Myanmar.

As for gay life, I did a quick search on Wikipedia, and it confirmed my thoughts that it is still relatively GLBT unfriendly although things are improving. My thoughts are that gay clubs and the like are most likely an "underground" thing.

Not sure if this helps any but hopefully it provides you some insight.

    Safe travels.

Enjoy the food there. I went to a restaurant in London once and thought the mixture of Chinese and Indian really made great food. Just from great food I've been interested in that country and the nice people.
