Having been brought up in a traditional yet spiritual South African household, it's always been seen as fitting that a boy my age sets out to complete his studies and then meets a lady and then starts a family BUT my family have no idea about my sexuality.
I was always seen as weird and didn't have that many friends and would often play along when classmates converse about how "disgusting" gay people are or when the priest at church would say they are doing an "abomination" or are "the devil's work" and as a result, I felt like a freak...that something was wrong with me. Being gay is awful for me cos it's seen as something shameful, the reason I posted this is because even though being on this site hasn't exactly given my love life a boost, viewing all your profiles and knowing that you are just like me if not better gives me a great deal of comfort.

Just thought I'd share it with youicon_smile.gif
    Please don't bash me people!

Countless young gay people have to spend many years after coming out trying to unlearn all the crap about gays and homosexuality they've been force fed since birth.
Being gay is neither good nor bad, but what you make of it.
The sooner you get out of your toxic environment, that still feeds you lies, damages your self-esteem and where you have to hide who you are, the better.
Your life can be as rich and rewarding as that of any of your straight friends and family.
Welcome to RJ, btw, I hope you'll enjoy the experience. Be warned, though, gays can be vicious and toxic too.
