Hey Guys,

My name is Jeff Newton and I work for the Boston-based Gay Men’s Domestic Violence Project (www.gmdvp.org). A lot of people have a hard time trying to understand how men can experience domestic violence. But just as our love is as equal as those of our straight counterparts, we can equally experience the abuse that can come with unhealthy relationships. We exist to help those in unhealthy relationships.

As a small non profit we are always looking to the community for support. Thankfully we have received three official numbers for the 2009 marathon though the generosity of John Hancock Financial Services. The 26.2 mile race from Hopkinton to Boston is arguably the most famous and prestigious of its kind, attracting thousands of participants for well over a century. We are now looking for one last runner to join our 2009 team.

This is a perfect opportunity for anyone – from novice to seasoned runners – to take part in the marathon with an official runner. Runners do not have to live in Greater Boston to run; they would just have to plan on coming to Boston the day of to compete. Also be sure to pass this information along to anyone who you think would be interested, we could really use the word-of-mouth.

To receive a marathon number, runners need to fundraise on behalf of GMDVP. Dedicated staff will be on hand to assist you every step of the way in your training and fundraising efforts. Last year, GMDVP runners greatly surpassed their fundraising goals. Not only that, but each one of our runners experienced the rush and pride that comes with crossing the legendary finish line.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to call me at 617.354.6056. I would be more then happy to speak with you about your concerns and discuss GMDVP fundraising goals.
