    Hi Guys,

We are removing the "Latest Forum Posts" from the home page, and increasing the number of "Latest Forum Topcs" listed.

"Latest Forum Posts" typically includes old content, and can be searchable for those who are looking to post on an older thread.

By increasing the number of "Latest Forum Topics," we are able to publish a higher number of new member content on the homepage.

We hope you like the change. Let me know what you think.

    Jeff

I like it. I never saw much value in the Forum Post but always check out the topics. Thanks Jeff.

Yeah I noticed it this morning. Personally, I preferred it how it was, pretty cool to see what people were interacting with in combination with new posts as well.
I enjoyed seeing new variety of topics arises old and new than having to search for them. Especially since it would update on the latest by click the refresh button.
    BUT!!!
GREAT JOB SO FAR! Just my little snippet of opinion keep doing whats best for RJ boss.

Deleting the latest posts listing means that there is more work to following present conversations and topics to which I may wish to reply in a timely way.

To put it another way, it will mean that I have to go searching for WOYM instead of having it frequently available at the click of a mouse.

I think this will actually mean less dialogue.

+1. If the latest Posts section was taking up too much screen real estate on the homepage, instead of doing away with it altogether, could you move it elsewhere? Perhaps to the http://www.realjock.com/gayforums landing?

Use the Tracking feature. Or just use your browser's bookmark to quickly access the current WOYM thread, or any other thread of interest.

Im on the same boat as him.
The man said it himself, might want to use the word of being "too lazy" or more effort just to follow present convos. I wouldn't want to be searching about just to do that. But ill adapt to whatever.

    i think the same...
and people who like seeing their topics [the attention cravers i mean] will post again and again the same topics to see themselvs.

lol Guys guys, read what Jeff said. He didn't delete Latest Forum Posts. It's still there. I think the people complaining are the real attention cravers.

Maybe a latest forum posts selection next to the Show Topics selection boxes would help for those that fear missing it

There should be an "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, where it takes you to some random threads. icon_lol.gif

I see I see gracias, On a side note!
Will there be a date or an idea of when we might see IM and the Video chatrooms coming back? Along with its many uses icon_rolleyes.gificon_cool.gif haha it was a pretty great way to meet new/past acquaintances and friends.
Felt like many of RJ buds distanced away since then especially since it was a convenient way to communicate.
Hope you dont mind the question good Sir, thank you very much for keeping us up to date and interacting with us users!

Seems like there's value in having both, though new topics tend to appear in both lists.

Someone adding a comment to an older heavyweight topic can be as interesting as someone starting a new lightweight topic, such as "Would you [fill in the blank] the guy above you?"

I think this is a stupid move, especially because we all know that the latest forum topics ARE NOT the latest new topics…. The recent topics list sometimes doesn't change for days (and NOT because no one's making new topics!)

A newly created topic does not automatically go to the front page, in fact I have no idea what criteria brings a new topic to the front page… I think since each new topic needs to be reviewed by Jeff some make the front page and others don't…

On the other hand… having the threads with most recent forum posts on the front page is an easy way to tell if there has been recent conversation on some of the most heavily trafficked threads. Who wants to search for WOYM???

It was bad enough when you flipped recent posts and threads on the front page… ugh….

This is kind of a grey area. If the front page automatically posted every new thread that was created, we'd see nothing but threads from the attention whores and trolls.

I can see this as bad for business. If a random person stumbled on to this site and saw all that bullshit, he'd be less inclined to register.

Maybe an algorithm to de-select new threads made by the persistent trolls from being included in the most recent forum topics?
