    Interesting.

I suppose that the Finns have come to terms with sexuality quite a bit earlier than Americans. Lol. But it's still cool to see the Finnish postal authority honor Laaksonen; he really was very talented.

Does anyone know where I can by a few sheets of those? It's an exciting collector's item, for sure. I'd even frame one and hang it on the wall as artwork.

    This stamp is awesome!
If the US printed something like this, conservatives would be burning down Post Offices across the country, lol.

yeah i don't get it either, but i think you probably had to be there in the day, in the original cultural context to be able to truly judge it's impact.

"Yle, Finland's national public broadcasting company, revealed Tuesday that its office in Tampere -- the country's third-largest city -- has posted a group of letters and packages to Russia with the new Tom of Finland stamps, to test whether the homoerotic art images fall afoul of Russia's infamous and draconian ban on so-called "gay propaganda."

Thanks, I'd like to get my husband some, maybe sheets to frame. He's actually got a leather-clad Tom of Finland doll, sporting an impossibly huge boner. The size of a GI Joe figure, he had it displayed on the dressing room counter. But when we engaged a cleaning lady I requested he put it away. I still have to make that up to him.

Tom of Finland is part of our gay heritage, if out of date now. Today he's more of a historical note. I used to have a Tom of Finland lapel pin on the back of my motorcycles, along with rainbow pins, gay triangles, Pride pins, PFLAG, and other gay indicators. Back in the '90s even many gays didn't know what those symbols meant, much less most straights. Nowadays I just display an HRC equals sign. Times change.
