If you haven't seen MILK at the Movies

... or even if you have
take a look at this documentary about him
It's narrated by Harvey Fierstein and is a pretty comprehensive
account of the life of this great gay man

    It's on Hulu.com
It's free and everybody should see it

I watched this on Hulu last night. Great documentary. The movie was more entertaining, but this gives you the full picture.

Definitely a must watch, and for everyone in America there's no excuse... it's free.

For those of you NOT in America, if you search on Youtube you can find the movie broken into twelve clips.

Thanks for posting this. I will try and watch it this weekend. I remember like it was yesterday when Milk and the Mayor of San Francisco were murdered by Dan White, and the subsequent "twinkie defence" that led to a reduced sentence.

It is one of the perverse tragedies of the human condition that some of the most amazing people in improving the lot of people, end up being murdered by the fanatical, the mentally ill or the frightened. Martin Luther King Jr, Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi and Robert F. Kennedy come to mind. Harvey Milk could be put in that category for gay people.

Thank you, GQJock, for posting this. I saw "Milk" last week and leaving the cinema thought "Best Film, Best Actor." Yet the film to which your posting links adds a lot to my understanding of who this guy was. What a huge and tragic loss for all of us.

great Oscar-winning Documentary, which was done before Dan White killed himself. I saw it a few weeks before I saw Milk. Nice to get some of the people's perspective in their own words. Also good for more information, like when Carter said to vote no on Prop.6, he had NO idea what it even was--he was just reacting to Jerry Brown's prompt!

Thanks for the info. I lived in the Castro and the movie has brought back many memories of what it was like a few years ago. The youngsters need to see some of this so they realize where people have come from and all the trials and tribulations they have gone through.

I was in tears watching MILK in the Castro Street Theater. I was watching the movie in the exact location where the movie took place. Breathtaking.

Milk with Sean Penn entertained me and and inspired me to do more gay activism. The Times of Harvey Milk brought to me the reality of at all, and tears to my eyes.
