So I will be spending next weekend in the Phoenix area for the Fiesta Bowl between Texas and Ohio State. What are some of the happenin' gay spots for nightlife to check out while we're in the area? I hear Scottsdale is the place to be for regular nightlife, is that the same for the gays?

    Thanks and Hook 'em Horns.

Not much of a gay "scene" in Phoenix.

If you go to Scottsdale, BS West is your best bet. Avoid Club Forbidden. Dinner at AZ88 and martini's are a good start!

Downtown has Amsterdam, a gay/straight bar, perfect with your gal pals or even straight pals. Charlies is an after hours night club (its a gay country club at earlier hours).

    Have fun!

I agree with TruKurt. The gay scene isn't much to write home about but he named the more popular clubs.

However, Club Forbidden is set up as an "alternative lifestyle" dance club, so it's a mixed crowd. I've always had fun there because the music's hopping and there are plenty of people coming in, usually after 10:30pm.

When I travel, I always check out gaycities.com for suggestions.

    Have fun and GO BUCS!!!

Argh. I could be out there for the game. Grumble grumble. Stupid work. Yeah, BS West is pretty much the it in Scottsdale. AZ88 is delicious, and always worth it! It's one of my top 5 favorite restaurants.

Wrong...........Forbidden is fun.......it's down the road from BS West on 5th Ave in Scottsdale. Charlie's is big here although I'm not a huge fan (7th Ave n Camelback). You can add Kobalt and Apollos to the bar list. For gay-friendly food try Fez or Ticoz

I've been to all of these places - and had fun. AZ-88 is my favorite -- you can be inside or outside - and anyone I've taken there liked it.

I saw a guy who looked exactly like you at HEAT in San Antonio on Christmas night. I didn't want to stare for a good look, perhaps it was someone else. That night I actually ran into my former fitness manager from Bally Total Fitness ten years ago. He bought me so many drinks that night...yikes!icon_confused.gif

I was in Scottsdale (well, some small casino far from the downtown area) for a Society of Automotive Engineers conference in college and I met a few fellow engineers at the bar by the hotel. They kept talking about the cool bartender who kept giving them free drinks the night before. He promised to take them out and buy all their drinks when he got off work the following night. When the guy came to the table and asked what I wanted to drink he said "Hello, my name is Carlossssssss, how can i help you?" with his left hand on his hip and his right hand fluttering around like a little bird. I just started laughing...as it turns out, those guys went out with him that night, but neither seemed too happy about it the next day. They wouldn't even tell me what bars they went to.

Let's talk downtown Phoenix for a moment. I arrived here a few hours ago for the marathon this weekend.

I have never been in such a ghost town. Wandering aimlessly around downtown, nearly all the restaurants and stores are closed. A few scant souls passed me on the sidewalk. Yikes! It's Friday night too.

Prove me wrong, there must be something to do in the downtown core.icon_biggrin.gif

PHX downtown is pretty bad...u need to go to Oldtown Scottsdale or Downtown Tempe to see the action.

I can't believe I'm Moving To Queen Creek Next Year... I'm either gonna die of lonely boredom or spoil my godson so bad he's gonna think he rules the world.
