I'm already sick of this self righteous woman who makes herself out to be the queen of the USA instead of the first lady. I'm also sick of seeing her mug on Jet, Ebony, and even Black Hair for crying loud. Hmmm, kind of makes you wonder, how come you hardly ever see Condalezza Rice, Angela McGlowan, or any other republican black woman grace the covers of these magazines? What's wrong, black dems? Are you threatened by smart, articulate african american woman? Are they to,"Aunt Jemima" for you? you must be, otherwise you would feature these woman instead of that irrelevant diva in her own mind, Michelle.

It just goes to show that black dems, white dems, and dems who are either gay or straight are all majorly fcuked up in the head. I think democrats exist to either annoy any decent person, or give the rest of the world a good laugh

    Wow ... jealous much? icon_rolleyes.gif

    Condi Rice???
The worst Sec of State this country has ever seen?
One who either didn't listen to the people in her staff who were saying "their hair was standing on their heads" that there was so much noise about a terrorist threat?
.... or who deliberately didn't act on it?
The one who presented the Aug 6th memo to George W Bimbo?
Thom Hartmann goes back on Condi's failures as NSA, here's a partial transcript.

Thom Hartmann: And no where in the book, are you dealing with her absolute and utter failures to deal with National Security, in the United States. Her main job was to protect this country, and she failed. We had 9/11. We were attacked. We had all kinds of warnings. You don't even talk about that in this book.

Dick Morris: The...the...um...She was National Security Advisor for 8 months...

Thom Hartmann: Right. And Sandy Berger told me personally Dick, that he told Condi Rice when she came into office, that his words to her were "Look out for Osama Bin Laden, he's coming to get you. You need to be paying attention to this. This has to be your number one priority." And she said "Thank you very much for that information" and then she did nothing.

Dick Morris: Did he take the documents out of his sock, when he told you that?

    Thom Hartmann: Come on Dick.

Dick Morris: (laughing still at his own joke)

Thom Hartmann: Do you want me to talk about hookers with you? Come on Dick.

Dick Morris: (Puase) Alright then, thanks very much for the interview. Bye bye. (CLICK)

Thom Hartmann: (pause)So ah, Dick Morris, I guess he doesn't uh... (laugh)... It's fine with Dick Morris to assassinate the personality of Sandy Berger, but when someone raises his own foibles, that's not something he wants to talk about.

I would have to agree a little with the Michelle Obama comments. Something had rubbed me the wrong way with her, although in general she fits the female democratic politician mold, remembering my first opinions of Hillary Clinton. Overall the old school feminists have been the face of female politicians and it seems like they feel like the need to appear overly confident or opinionated to compensate for being part of a male dominated profession. Even Sarah Palin came across this way, despite obviously having very different opinions from the democratic counterparts, which of course which is why her female opposition screamed the loudest. I think what annoys me about Michelle Obama is that rather than approaching her role as first lady (which is merely a formality of being married to the man who was elected president) is she takes as if it were an appointed or elected position. There are a long list of African-American female politicians who are much more deserving and appropriate of the coverage/interest that Michele is receiving, but of course she is a new face and with the support behind Barack, she is getting the brunt of it.

um shes not a political candidate. she's the wife of president elect. not many wifes were in politics when their husbands took office with the exception of hilary clinton and maybe someone else. so really who cares? shes on the magazines cuz she's the first lady. everyone wants to see her. just like laura bush, and barbra bush and jackie kennedy.

besides like he said above me. if you dont like it. why are you picking up the magazine and reading it?

Actually, I'm pretty sure no one wanted to see Barbara Bush on the cover of a magazine. Even Laura Bush.

Homely and wifey doesn't really sell. Men don't want to buy a magazine that has a picture of a nice lady reminiscent of their grandmother on the cover.

Why is she the focus of so much attention, maybe because she is the first lady of the first black president. Also, this was a big deal for many black people, our culture is different than white culture as in a lot of black american culture is semi pop culture: hair, makeup, style, and entertainment is more of a fixture in our cutlure. It's no wonder that to celebrate her, her fans would want to make her apart of that culture in this way?

I've already noticed a lot of extra sized t-shirts with gilded images of Obama's face on them. LOL, that's a first, seeing a president exhaulted in this way, but you have to consider the huge culture difference that Obama comes with whether he likes it or not. These Republican women you mentioned, after the hateful generalizations you made in that post and the horrible things said by republicans on the national news no less about Obama during the election, how can you not understand the reason those women aren't as embraced as you seem to think they should be by the dem community? They represent a community that is at odds with theirs, especially during this election, that rivalry reached a notable level.

BTW, many first ladys (women in politics, period) receive media attention about their fashion choices, are you kidding me? I used to always see something about Laura Bush's wardrobe in magazines and please, let's not talk about the twins. Michelle being focused on this way is not abnormal, plus, she is a goodlooking lady. All those names Palin flashed and dropped during this whole thing...are you sure you aren't a little biased?

Poor Michelle, it's a good thing you are just an insignificant little spec to her, hail the queen!

You know. I've always thought your posts were especially thoughtless, but this just blows away everything else. I think you should take some hints from some of the Republicans on here who are capable of forming coherent sentences.

Who is Angela McGlowan?? She's obviously not anyone the average person would be familiar with. And therefore why put her on a magazine cover? Even Condi Rice. Most African-Americans can't stand the policies she represents. Why would you expect her to be prominetly displayed in a black interest magazine? It's called bad marketing.

As the incoming First Lady, Michelle Obama is hardly irrelevant. Quite the contrary, she's intelligent, glamorous, and opinionated. She has a way about her that like her husband, is very even-tempered, and that's really attractive.

So, the asshole Republicans come crawling out of the woodwork. What was it they were so fond of saying after the 2000 election? "Get over it?" Was that it?

So let me get this straight, you are a white, 26 yr old Stratford, Connecticut male. Who reads or is the targeted audience for Jet and Ebony? Come on...

I am not a fan of Michelle Obama, but I never expected to read a post like this on real jock. I think you were looking for redneck update or red state update, but not a site with people who can read and think. Pull your head out from under that rock, and deal with your self hate. No matter how you try to displace it, your attitude reflect on who you are as a person.

I think she's going to be a very cool First Lady...I just hope her inaugural gown is more impressive than the frock she wore the night her husband was elected.

That's interesting - that dress is pretty different from the one Obama wore - there is much more red in Obama's; the cut around the bust is different; the straps are different, and it looks like the model's dress is see-through on the thighs. I understand that they would need to change the design to make it less edgy and more appropriate for the occasion, but I think they kinda ruined the look and should have started with something else.

That being said, I don't have anything particularly constructive to say to this "issue" except read and reread GG's post (Jan 01, 2009 6:12 PM) because he pretty much sums it up.

That's a myth that democrats want gays, blacks, jews, and other "victumized"minorites to believe. they've been using this tactic for years so they can count on all of these peoples votes. it also goes to show that the majority of country, such as yourself, still vote for people based on shallow reasons. I don't care what a person is, as long as i think they'll do a good job as president, they'll get my vote.

Your generalizations...I voted for Obama because he was the best choice and I tend to believe that the democratic and republican rivalry reached notable levels when I heard someone shout "Nigg**" at one of Palin's rallies. Notice they didn't shout "He's biracial."

This entire post is incindiary and bordering on racist. I have never reported anyone before, thanks for changing that.
