When people meet you for the first time, what could be their biggest misconception about you, and how do you deal with it?

Probably I come across either a little distant or aloof or too serious...

All I need to do is open up and be me... I'm a friendly guy so issue solved.

I think I come across like that too but in reality I'm just really shy and it takes me a while to warm up to people.

That I have no people skills. Haha. I'm extra strength nervous for a good half hour, but once I feel calm I feel like I can socialize normally. icon_biggrin.gif

Funnily enough I come across like that due to shyness.

People think I"m scary at first. After they get to know me they realise I"m just a big'ol teddy bear

I can attest to that. He's kewl and calms down, holds a good conversation but has more people skills then he gives himself credit for.

I usually get one of three depending on who it is....

    1) that I'm aloof or don't like them, which isn't the case, I'm actually just socially awkward.

    2) that I'm easy. I'm not sure -why- they think this, but I've had a lot of older men seem to think that I'm going to be an easy lay if they either give me cash or offer to become my "sugar daddy".

    3) that I'm dangerous/in a gang. This one is a more recent development over the past couple of years since my cheek was scarred during a home invasion.

I deal with all of them about the same. Ignore it until they realize the truth on their own, or point out the truth to them if it gets to a point where I need to be blunt.

Well a quick poll around the office turned up that most thought I was scary or off putting until they knew me.

A check with friends turned up me being intimidating until people know me.

Seems most people think I"m gonna just be a big bad arse kinda guy when I just aint. I'm smiling and happy and generally well natured.

But the look on my face can sometimes say otherwise hahaha
