Toxicity testing is where dogs are exposed to a chemical by skin, mouth or inhalation. One test is called Lethal Dose 50 (LD50). Large numbers of dogs are given the chemical and the test is complete when half of the dogs are dead.

Another testing method is complete when the dogs show signs of suffering. The beagles endure excruciating pain, convulsions, they lose their motor functions, and have uncontrollable seizures. They are still killed in the end.

Done , i have heard about it and donated many times before .. This is horrible that we have to use poor innocent animals , when we have plenty of murderers , rapists and child abusers in our jails that could be used for those researches , we all are feeding , clothing , and health caring for them in jails with our hard earned money !!

They just mentioned "Lethal Dose 50 (LD50)" on the Good Wife tonight.

There should be laws against such mistreatment. The drug industry is infamous for animal cruelty. icon_sad.gif

I agree that would be preferred, but let's face it....that will never happen due to the threat of lawsuits.
