Researchers in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University are conducting an online research study to learn more about attitudes about sexual orientation and the ways people perceive themselves. We are looking for men who identify as gay and are over the age of 18 to participate. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete some questionnaires that will ask you about your mood, what you think and feel about yourself, what you think and feel about your sexual orientation, and how you may experience discrimination, as well as some demographic information. We’ll also have you perform three tasks where pictures, words, or letters are displayed on your screen, and you respond by pressing certain keys. Participation is confidential, done through your web browser, and should take no more than 30-40 minutes. If you choose to provide us with a valid US mailing address, you will be sent a $10 prepaid Visa card as a token of our appreciation for participating. If you are interested, see if you are eligible by clicking on this URL: http://ecps.northwestern.edu/ or entering it into your web browser. This study “Evaluative Conditioning and Self-Directed Attitudes”, Principal Investigator: Michelle Nicole Burns, Ph.D., has been approved by the Northwestern University Institutional Review Board (STU00087971).
