I think it's awesome! They clearly have a problem filling the ranks of priests, and they will quickly find that their tactics, once again, will quickly deplete the ranks of their "teacher-ministers."

    Let them lose.

Sorry Metta but this is not ALL Catholic Schools. My Catholic School was very accepting of gays and our Priest of the school DEMANDED acceptence of everyone.

I was a Peer Minsiter of my school and that meant that I taught Religion Class to Freshman. Part of what we taught was how we as Catholics need to accept homosexulaity and realize that it is not a choice to be gay. And yes this was in our text books. Not all Catholic institutions descriminate.

Also just a reminder, Catholic Schools are nutorious for firing teachers who live with boyfriends out of wed lock and divorcees. My school even forced a teacher to switch religions when it was found out she was not Catholic.

Well I am not yelling or condemning, I am just pointing out and stating a true fact. I believe Metta just copies and pastes the titles of the articles. On there. Metta rarely if ever states his opinions on the topic.

Will Metta ever see the comments posted on this thread, or does he just continue to cut, paste, and look for the next incendiary headline.......for more cutting & pasting?

Metta has posted a lot of 'junk headlines'. I asked him about some of the garbage he spews once, but he never saw my question. He was long gone from that thread and had posted six more incendiary topics that same morning. Sad - to think someone is so lonely, with such an empty life - no friends, no dates, won't visit a doctor........just sitting there cutting & pasting away.........

That's good to know. The Catholic high school in the city I grew up in had major protests last year because they fired the most popular teacher because he got married to his partner.

As for the comments from most of the other people in this thread (woodsmen exempted), I have no desire to comment because their statements are nonsense.

Funny complaint. Exactly how many anti-Obamacare threads with "junk headlines" have Southbeach and Riddler posted between them in the past years? More than a hundred, easily.

    Metta8,

I realize you are just copying and pasting, but you have now labeled the entire Catholic religion as being "Desperate to discriminate."

No, he didn't. The key word here is 'schools'. I highly doubt the Pope told them to try this. icon_wink.gif

This is exactly what my Catholic school would do.

And if anything is bigoted, it's the Catholic schools doing this.

As it states in the article: In some Catholic dioceses, church administrators are so anxious to get around non-discrimination laws that they're even redefining Catholic schoolteachers as "ministers" rather than educators to take advantage of these laws' religious exemptions. The National Catholic Reporter has the story:

Call out the real bigotry, southbeach!

And now, instead of condemning such a blatant display of bigotry, RJ members are attacking those who pointed it out.

Are you saying Metta8 is a bigot, or bigoted?

Metta8 has never said anything bad about you, ever, or any other conservative minded person posting on RJ. Today he said he wouldn't reply to comments he didn't want to.
    Deal with it.

You don't know him as you haven't been reading his posts outside of politics. If you knew you'd eat some of those those words. He's more conservative than you realize, for one. icon_wink.gif

Southbeach, everyone on this site likely knows by now your long long long history of personal dislike for Metta, and it ended in a banning at one point. I'll stop there.

Please reconsider your spinning, it's not working.

In my Catholic school we were taught that gays cannot be changed and we have to accept them. However, gay sex was considered a sin and anyone perceived to be gay was bullied.

It was good to hear the acceptance part, but overall it gave me a very bleak outlook and I resented the Catholic church for many years, and like everyone else found the various priest pedophilia scandals to reveal sinister hypocrisy.

I've since forgiven the church. However, if and when I participate in Christian traditions I do as an Episcopalian. My fiancé's father is an Episcopal priest. They are very accepting of gay marriage.

Nothing that I have stated is bannable material. I'm not spinning, I'm expressing a legitimate point of view.

Metta8 posted a story that Catholic schools are "desperate to discriminate."

RadRTT pointed out that is not correct.

Metta8 then graciously thanked RadRTT for pointing out to Metta8 that not all Catholic schools are "desperate to discriminate," a view that Metta8 did not share until it was pointed out to him by RadRTT.

Metta8 then modified his original point of view and accepted the point of view of RadRTT.

It's pretty cut and dry, so can you please address my points?

Sure. Rad and Metta had a conversation on here you need to take lessons from. Anything else?

The Catholic school I went to was the same way... accept gays, however engaging in or "giving in to"...the gay lifestyle was a sin. Being gay and celibate is completely fine, it's the butt sex they didn't like. The beautiful, amazing butt sex. .

Sorry Southbeach, that's a nice try but it won't work. Try this: he ignored posts that were just looking to attack.
Rad did not attack. He's classy that way. Learn from it.

...or are you trying to say here that you, by making personal attacks, managed to manipulate Metta into answering Rad? That's an incredible stretch, and a rather silly one to boot.

I found that a perverse sort of "tolerance". It's practically a celebration of the closet lifestyle.

As for the title topic, I am not surprised. I have a relative who is a Catholic school principal and told me that she rejected all gay applicants (who appeared to exhibit stereotypically gay behaviour in the interview). Some weeks ago, she told me that "they can't be around children".

    Welcome to my family.

Are you that narrow-minded to actually believe this to be the case? Or were you just not thinking about what you were copying and pasting?

southbeach has a pattern of distorting what other RJ members say, and then arguing against that strawman position he's created himself. It's his usual routine, nothing new. He's been doing it the entire 6 years I've been here.

And BTW, he has a thing about metta8. Extremely jealous of his readership here (I'm a big fan of metta myself), and metta's posting of anything that contradicts southbeach's own relentless anti-Obama, anti-Democrat, pro-Right Wing crusade.

Well, we've just witnessed a high profile individual getting severely scolded here in the USA for communicating bigotry. Metta8 is doing the same here, with his assumption that all Catholic schools are "desperate to discriminate."

He did his usual "copy and paste" job, without posting even a single sentence of his own views. He would have had a perfect opportunity to say that he doesn't agree that all Catholic schools are "desperate to discriminate" but he did not.

He was in agreement with his copy and pasted story until corrected by RadRTT that not all Catholic schools are "desperate to disciminate" - his response is here:

    metta8 said

    As for this:

Metta8 is classic passive-aggressive. He constantly attacks those of us here who don't share his leftist / liberal / "progressive" views by posting hundreds of topics with any dirt he can find about individuals on the right (and many times these topics are unsubstantiated and turn out not at all to be true, though he never posts a retraction).

Metta8 can (and will) continue to post as he always has. I am not "being mean" to him by pointing out in this thread that what he posted was bigoted.

Metta8 means very well most of the time but some of the news sources of his postings are very questionable in terms of credibility. He needs to be more selective with the news sources.

I do find it unfortunate that so few here still refuse to acknowledge the extreme bigotry displayed in Metta8's original post. It just goes to show how people are willing to "look the other way" when someone on their "team" commits a heinous indiscretion.

Can you clarify this for me? What did he say in his original post?
