Yep. I totally didn't fit in where I grew up so I blew town as soon as I could. Left for uni at 16, never went back.

I left too. Maybe I'll move back some day, but in the meantime, I am quite content making my own life.

I think personally i just dont seem to fit in, everyone in my town is up their own arse and "better than me", even when i look back to my younger years i never did fit in at all (and yes i was brought up on a rough council estate and that aint a good thing either), to an extent my country is in my heart but i do have an affinity for another place and country.

I would never come back to Wigan if and when i leave.

I feel the same way almost everywhere, but I decided years ago to own up to what that feeling is - ultimately self-aggrandizing. If we felt we fit in we wouldn't feel special.

    Me !
Not because Vietnam is a poor country, I live in a big city tho.
But I just don't fit in, too many lies, too many hatred on a person who thinks different like me...and more.

Fitting in is a highly over-rated quality and one I have never aspired to.

Not that I had much chance of that.

So existential angst is an expression of egomania?

When I first moved to Jacksonville, I did not feel like I belonged. I felt like a spot of blue in a sea of red. I kept myself closed in for this as well as another reason. Once I started getting out and about I started to notice that I wasn't such odd duckling. And after 12 years the city has progressed and is starting to catch up to me. And even though the "communities" that I associate with are still minorities, I feel completely at home here. In fact, this is home to me.

Absolutely. Otherwise wouldn't life be dull?

I don't truly fit in anywhere, but I live in Palm Springs half the time and Royal Oak, MI the other half. Palm Springs is a lot of old gay men and Royal Oak is a bunch of douche bags, so there are some ways in which I fit in both places.
