The Man of the Day today is Terra22. He transisioned from this Earth a couple days ago. Seeing him as Man of the Day was pretty emotional for me as I'm sure it is for many others.

It's so easy to get overwhelmed with all the negativity in the forums these days, and it occurred to me there are other members here that I haven't told how much they mean to me lately (if ever.) It's easy to take friends and family for granted in real life and even easier to do with our online friends. I thought it would be a good idea to give shout outs to members we appreciate here. I'm personally going to include some members I don't have the best relationship with, but would be devastated to hear if anything bad happened to them. Once they're gone, it's too late.

David3000 (Original screen name) - You mean a lot to me. I think you're a sweet guy and misunderstood a lot here.

Blackcat - I don't have a close friendship with you at all, but I've always respected the way you carry yourself on here. You're always pleasant and graceful in handling conflicts and I think I could learn a lot from you.

JumpMan_Josh - You're a very young guy with the maturity level of a much older man. You're always sweet and genuine. I hope you never change.

TheGuyNextDoor - You could easily change your screen name to "Niceguy", because those are the two words that come to mind when I think of you. You're one of the treasured members here.

Pazzy (aka Owl Bundy) - We've had some pretty heated discussions and I'm sure there have been times we hated each other. But honestly, I don't think you're a bad guy and I think I've been a little hard on you. I'd like to start today by being nicer to you.

Jmusmc85 - I realize a lot of people dislike you and to be honest I didn't like you at first, but I think that's because I didn't understand your sense of humor. Although I do think you cross the line sometimes, I still think you're funny as hell most of the time and think you'd be a blast to hang out with.

Cash - Boy we had a rocky start! Talk about misunderstanding one another; well we sure did. Sometimes two smart asses don't always get each other's sense of humor, but we were able to sort that out over the phone. It was really nice talking to you and hope we can chat again some day.

Coolarmydude - A really smart, well informed guy with interesting things to say. Still hope to meet you in person one day soon.

Art_Deco - We don't always agree on many topics, but he's good about posting his thoughts and feelings in a coherent manner, which really is refreshing on here.

Venue35 - Great guy. Nice and intelligent.

Trolli - You're another sweet dude who doesn't get enough credit. You're always sweet and never have a harsh thing to say. Never talked to anyone who didn't like you.

Import - You also have a sense of humor a lot of people don't seem to get. I also think you'd be fun to grab a beer with.

There are a LOT of other great guys on here and I know for a fact I'm leaving a ton of people out. Plus there are a lot of guys I've become close with that don't participate in the forums.

Who are the members you appreciate and why?

Well, it's really not about Terra. It's too late to tell him how important he was to us. He was only the catalyst. This thread is about the people who are still alive.

My thoughts are with Eric's family and friends. I can't imagine the sorrow and sadness they must be experiencing. It's heartbreaking. Losing a child is just something I can not fathom. Losing one of my children would devastate me. My heart is heavy for them!

There was a facebook group set up for people to mourn a friend who was murdered last month and there were a number of people that joined because they knew him from an online gaming site. I know they were a bit nervous to explain how they knew him at first, but they cared about him and they really wanted to let people know that.

When I was reading their posts of condolence, I realized that its kind of like Real Jock. The connections that we make here may be virtual, but it doesn't mean that they aren't important. You can tell from some members' posts that they feel very alone, but they're not alone - we're real and most of us actually do care.

Oh, there are so many it's hard to list them all.
Cash - There are no superlatives enough for this sexy, smart, funny, self-deprecating, hilarious class act.
Showme - Fuck you for being married to someone else. You're smart, handsome, and sensible (for a right-wing tool of the running-dog oppressive plutocracy).
RadRTT - Life-loving goofball who got him a second chance and is running away with it.
Iceblink - My brother from another mother. I wish we lived close together enough to hang out.
PR-GMR - Driven, artistic, handsome, and a big ol' whore. I love you, A.
TheGuyNextDoor - Proved to me many years ago what a true-blue friend he really is. He knows what I'm talking about. Not hard on the eyes, either.
judgingyou - One day some people will figure out your sense of humor. And you'll figure out some impulse control. Hugs, man.
Pazzy - I may have been the first to see the really good guy underneath that ghetto bluster, but many are now finding out what I know. Hugs to you too.
jmusmc85 - Another guy whose sense of humor eludes some people, but you know I think you're funny and sharp and you have nice hair even though you lie all the time about the cost of your gym membership. I found out one night that it is NOT $79/month, it's only $78.99. So, busted.
Art Deco - Passionate, lots of fun to be around, with a wonderfully comical partner. I've enjoyed every minute of knowing you both.
Jumpman Josh - Squirming bundle of positive energy and smarts. Cute as a button. Plus abs! Love ya Josh.
Import - Trashy, disreputable, sleazy, handsome, sardonic, superficial, cheap, nasty - everything I love in a man. I'd hug you but I don't want to catch corruption.
Trolli - You're so talented and very strong. You've put up with so much shit both in real life and here. I just hope you know how much you are loved by people who really matter.
MCB - What an amazing young guy you are. I mean that truly. Watching you turn from being a precocious kid into a great adult has been nothing but pleasure.
Yourname2000 - You know I'm crazy about your wit, your honesty, your smarts---and I wish you weren't a billion miles away either.
Shawnathan - I'd give you a good evaluation even if you made me feel like an idiot in your class. 'Cause you great.

I know there's more, some new friends and probably some older ones I've forgotten. But these are the guys I thought of just now.

I'm pretty sure no one knows me on the site except for the handful that hang out in the running and cycling logs, but from the threads in the other part of the forum, I gotta say that I'm lovin' HottJoe most of the time. Smart, kind, and Minnesotan. Which is maybe redundant.

I thought it would be a good idea to give shout outs to members we appreciate here.

I usually avoid these lists, because I'll always forget someone, and anyone not on the list will be offended (or elated, depending on their view of me). But let's try:

Sharkspeare - who would have ever thought my second most fearsome opponent on this site becomes my best RJ friend in real life?!?!? It was all his doing, you know. Now my husband & I have lunch & dinner and do stuff with him all the time. Charming company, intelligent & knowledgable conversation, I could rattle off all the other superlatives. Our friendship an RJ success story.

rigsby - he's the golf guy, who also put together an RJ get-together for the Fort Lauderdale area. I learned golf thanks to him, and I've played golf with him, and in the LGBT tournaments he arranges. The perfect gentleman, and professional, the kinda guy you're proud to say is on our "team", and I don't mean just golf.

lilTanker - I've admired this guy from afar for a long time (very far - he's Australian). Has a sharp tongue, but an equally sharp mind. Makes me like Australians even more than I already did. Less active here now, I miss his insightful comments. Like the next one on my list, he can say more in 10 words or less than I can in 100 or more.

meninlove - the RJ gold standard. Their advice here is the best, and the most respected. What more can one say?

GAMRican - I just like this guy. It helps when I meet someone in person. Tough, no nonsense, a survivor. Can be abrasive at times (can't we all) but I think I know the man, and he's good.

MikeW666 - another guy I just naturally like. Must be the generational bond, we're within a year of each other, see many things the same way. I like hard-nosed reality & logic in a discussion, and he's one of the guys who gives it to us.

turtleneckjock - now there's an odd pick, at first glance. But I talk with him regularly, and a regular guy. He knows more about Central Florida, and really Florida overall, than I ever will. Maybe not a big attraction for some Ohio guy, but he's a nice guy who does it for me.

HndsmKansan - he says smart things. I like smart things. And says them In a nice way. I like that, too, need all the smart things I can get. A class act. We could use more of them here.

rnch - another of my special guys. The only one I have on Facebook, though he probably knows I never open the damn thing. We have good talks on the phone.

NJDewd - a sentimental favorite. Another guy I've met in person, had lunch with him and my husband. He saw my Red Vespa! (My former screen name) I trash New Jersey all the time, that I take as my privilege, my ancestors having helped found the damn place in the 1600s. But the truth is I love fellow New Jerseyans. NJDewd doesn't post often here, but I read every word, and love anything he writes.

And now I'll get a cascade of complaints, why I didn't include other guys. For one thing, I've run out of reasonable space. For another, my appalling memory. Sorry... icon_redface.gif

meninlove - really has reached out to me and made me feel welcomed on this site, and in Hangout.

Karl - his being a good person shines through in his posts.

Cash - He's hilarious and seems like a very nice man.

So I've only been part of the forums for about a couple of months now, but I've had the pleasure of getting to know some cool RJ'ers so far. I don't know many of you too well but I'm in the mood to say nice things about the few that I know so here it goes:

David3000: My first buddy on here, we used to talk pretty much in Spanish only. Funny guy and I like your style.

BlackCat: Gurrrrlll you're hilarious and quite the character. Your opinionated and sassy personality never gets boring. You were the first that encouraged me to come on hangouts and I'm glad that you did because I've met many other RJ'ers from it. You're actually a really nice person as long as no one crosses you haha.

Rene_Aensland: You always seem like you're in a happy mood, and I love your laugh! I feel like many people misunderstand your sense of humor and take it too seriously, but I still think you're a funny guy. I admire your confidence and that you seem satisfied with yourself, I don't think I've ever heard you complain about anything. You also have the cutest dog ever and you can probably beat my ass in any video game!

Aodhan: My favorite Irish boyfraaannnd! The definition of a cheeky monkey. I find you super attractive, and I'm happy that we've become really close (despite the distance) in such a short time. Your sense of humor clicks with mine and I can't deny that I look forward to talking to you pretty much every day, you're a great guy. You've gone through quite a bit and I admire that you don't let it get to you. You need to come to the U.S. and bring Rusty with you ASAP you white jelly bean, how else are we going to get married?

Dennis: Such a sweetheart, you're one of the nicest guys on the forums and I'm glad you came back!

RedEssence: The intelligent polyglot who also happens to be a vagabond. You're really lucky to have seen all the countries you have seen, I'm jelly. You're a handsome guy who also has a really attractive and manly voice, it's the perfect narrator voice and, like I've told you before, you'll tell awesome bedtime stories.

WaytoJorDawn: You're a quiet and nice guy. You've in a way guided me and helped me out when I first joined the group, thanks for that! You seem like an innocent guy but I'm not falling for that! We also share a likeness for Kingdom Hearts, one of the best games ever!

Dalton: Handsome guy, and that southern accent of yours is endearing. Quite the trouble maker though, I have to be careful around you when I'm drinking because you seem to do a really good job at taking ugly pictures of me when I'm drunk lol.

Trolli: I've only very recently started talking to you but I can tell you're a very hard worker, I don't know many others who can be a full-time student and work three jobs all at the same time. I like your posts and find them funny, you're also an attractive guy.

IceBuckets: A really handsome guy with a really nice body who also happens to be passionate about Frozen, I mean it's a great movie obvs. You also have good taste in shows (Game of Thrones) and underwear lol.

Nayro: I'm so happy for you and that your coming out to your parents experience turned out well! You're a sweet guy and I'm jelly that you're over In Australia because it looks like a beautiful place.

RadRTT: I'll probably never forget your birthday because it's a day after mine. You seem like a smart and hard-working guy, I mean you got into Emory med school, that's awesome and congratulations!

RaggedyMan: I've found it in my heart to forgive you and the rest of the Assyrian people for invading and fucking up the tribes back in the day, no worries bro the past is the past. You're a handsome guy and I think not having hair suits you, I'm not even kidding there.

zachvan: You're a funny guy and you work with the cutest monkeys ever! Also, you have really pretty eyes.

Johnny145: You were one of my first buddies on here, and even though we don't really talk anymore it was fun to have chats with ya. Have fun on that road trip!

I'd probably have a lot more to type but, like I said, I don't know that many of you too well. Even though most you treat me like a kid I can forgive you guys, I am legal after all icon_wink.gif

Wait, I didn't know any of this. Terra22 icon_cry.gif That breaks my heart.

I don't know where to start, but let it be known that I joined this site at an all time low and ended up conversing with many guys which really meant a lot to me. This is definitely more than just a gay fitness site, it's a community and I'm glad I can be a part of it. Even if I do tend to fly under the radar

Terra was a sweet kid. He was only 19 or 20 when he was really active here. But although a terrible attention whore, you could see that there was a sweet but very insecure boy-man underneath it. He was very attractive, but talked a lot about having been a fat pimply kid (which anyone who'd seen his body could hardly believe) and you could tell that he'd never quite managed to believe that he'd turned into a hottie. He sort of knew it, but I think he had the fear that it could all disappear quickly. Maybe former fatties always have that lurking fear; i don't know. But I assumed---naively I guess---that since he left RJ it must have meant that he was having a fulfilling adult life and I was happy for him. Perhaps he did; maybe not. We'll probably never know how he died---car accident? some other sort of accident? suicide? We'll have to live without knowing.
Goodbye Eric. You really were loved.
