There is a new trend in EDM and I absofuckinglutely love it. However I am not sure what it is called. I have been playing it at the peak of my night. I feel kind of stupid for not knowing.

Can anyone tell me what it is? All 3 of these songs use it.

Sub Focus - Turn back time 1:35 mark

Fatboy Sli - Eat Sleep Rave Repeat 1:34 mark

Scotty Boy - Shiny Dicso balls 1.00 mark

sidenote: I think it might be time for me to admit that I turn a pub into a club and not just a bar. Ha!

It's not necessarily the genre. It's not the entire song, it's the drop that happens at those particular marks. It's exact opposite of the high synth sound of Guetta, Avicii, Harris and Hardwell.

Of course it probably doesn't actually have a name, so maybe I should give it one. icon_smile.gif

I think that might be called a 'beat break', skip a beat, when counting BPMs, its every second normally that is counted, but this appears to be BPMs every other second in a count which changes the focus, before the 'cut in' or beat skip, song sounds normal, probably done with the BPM counter on the mixer, we only hear this by straight EDM DJ's, gay DJ's build momentum or crescendo raising the BPM at peak hour, then bringing it back to steady level

I am not sure the purpose of breaking the beat up, but the straight crowd seems to like it, I think the gay crowd might have a fit with it icon_neutral.gif

The genre you are referring seems to be Big Room house specifically a minimalist elctro house drop.

    For more examples

    Hope this answered your question

Seems to be a new variation of EDM every other month. I can't keep up with these new genre names. icon_lol.gif

Fatboy Slim produces what's called "big beat". It has a slower tempo and uses synths similar to techno and hardcore. Big beat isn't really new. I know that some DJs who spin dubstep mix in a bit of his work. Dubstep's not really that new either; it's been in and out of the dance scene for several years. I don't listen to much of either. I prefer house, techno, and drum-and-bass.
