There are a number of electric body shaver options now available, including the Norelco line of BodyGroom trimmers, made for a man's body. They're available worldwide, or directly by mail online. And there's always a simple razor, a disposable will do in the shower. I favor a women's razor, intended for the body, I think a little more gentle than a man's facial razor, especially around the tender bits.

If you have back hair you may need a shower partner to help you (always fun in itself, unless you're a contortionist). I've seen attachments for a razor online, sorta like the back scrubber idea, but you'll have to Google it.

Depilatories use harsh chemicals, I don't recommend them. And I'm not sure they really remove the root, rather partially dissolve the hair at the skin line, so it can be wiped away.

My suggestion is to spend a little time "shaved" or hairless (over a period of a couple of years) and decide if you like being without body hair. Perhaps you've already done this and your thread is the result (you are ready for a permanent change).

A couple of years ago, I went through the "lets see what it is like to be without chest hair" phase.
I think I'm probably better with it.. I have great chest hair and I should like it.. is what I determined.
Any back or shoulder hair is a different thing and I'd want it gone (fortunately I don't have much of that).

If you really want to take that step, Bob's comment (above) is certainly helpful. All I'd encourage is that you really think about it. Once "permanent" removal is done, you don't have options anymore.
