I don't get this gay attraction with saunas and steam rooms.
Even if there WAS as much sex going on in them as is suggested who'd want to have it in 100 degrees, especially during flu season in a steamroom? YUCK
Maybe on the fitness floor equipment after closing. Hmmmmm....
I'm a big afficionado of sauna. And especially during winter cold season, when I lived in the snow belt.
First, a sauna is a lot hotter than 100 F. The interior of my car gets hotter when parked in the summer. A sauna is often around 180-190. A steam room is less hot, maybe 120-140. But in public gyms some guys crank the heat way up, if they can, and dump too much water on the sauna rocks. They're doing it during their lunch break, can only afford maybe 10 minutes, so they figure having it scalding hot will compensate.
No, it doesn't. The benefits of sauna come from a more extended heat soak. Often with cold shower (or plunge) breaks, then coming back inside for another session.
I do it after my workout. Helps me avoid sore muscles. And just relaxes me.
When it's winter cold season, breathing hot air, above about 105 F, helps to kill the rhino virus (nose virus). Responsible for many head colds. I never got a winter head cold when I used the sauna regularly.
I don't know if it helps with flu virus. I've been getting the annual flu vaccine for 40 years, and I haven't gotten it during that time. But before the vaccine shot the flu could really knock me for a loop.
Of the two, I prefer sauna over steam room. I find sauna more quiet & contemplative. I'm not into Zen crap, but I do like my quiet time. Almost feel my body healing. That kinda time-out is good for me. I think both psychologically and physically.
And there is no gay agenda. My eyeglasses are off, I can barely see you anyway. If it's a public men's sauna and you join me I want silence and non-engagement. A gay bathhouse is different, a sexual agenda dominates. But not what I do in any other sauna.
Yah know, we are big boys, grown-ups. If you can't differentiate these distinctions and appropriately control yourself maybe you need to revert to square one and start over.
Speaking in general and rhetorical terms, not about you, eagermuscle. I already know you're a gentleman. You might consider installing a small sauna in your home. Just big enough for you and a friend. Or use it solo. It really can be wonderful for body & mind.
