I've been working out for years and I built a good athletic body but after my 30's I've noticed that my love handles seem bigger an permanent. I hate it!!

Some of my friends have taken steroids/testosterone before and highly recommend it to loose the extra body fat, build a nice body and the idea of having some body hair really excites me!! (since I have none icon_neutral.gif)

I'm also very concerned about loosing my hair if I start on steroids.

Any ideas what is the best product to take?
Also is it safe to but steroids from these online websites that promise to deliver it?

    Thanks for reading it

Ask your friends, since they've taken steroids. I don't think you'll find the answers you're looking for here. The admin will probably delete this thread.

Do not buy steroids on line.
    Why ?
Because you will end up with no money and no steroids.

    don't bother with steroids.

all my gains are natural. it may take longer and more hard work, but its possible. funny thing is people ask me if i'm on steroids all the time! i just use whey protein (BSN Syntha6) and creatine (BSN Cellmass). i like that i have achieved a "roided" look without steroids. sometimes i have a pre-workout drink like NOExplode for extra energy and focus.

anyways, the online retailers for steroids are bullshit. don't waste your time and money.

Although i have never used steroids, i certainly have contemplated using them in the past to gain mass so i can appreciate your interest. For me, the decision to not use steroids was largely related to the potential health implications and costs. With that said, in the past, i have used things like supplemental whey protein and creatine but i stopped all that about 4 years ago. I have since decided to age gracefully and stick to a combination of 50% wt lifting and 50% cross fit training and sticking to relatively healthy eating habits. If you do decide to try a course of steroids, i would encourage you to become educated not only on the positives but negatives as well both with short term and long term use. As others have eluded to, there are several sources of steroids i.e. testosterone, anabolic, human growth hormone, finding a reputable source (legal) is very important.

Steroids will not make your love handles disappear. The cutting steroids like Winstrol etc. will only contribute to reduced body fat if you body fat is under 12% to begin with. The reason that guys on steroids do lose body fat has to do with the increased metabolism from being juiced up, but mostly because they are eating very cleanly and exercising way more than they do when they are not juicing. Also if you are building muscle quick, you might use up some of that fat stored energy.

All in all if steroids do contribute to lost body fat, it's a very temporary situation, while you are doing them. The effects don't last past the cycle unless you then follow really clean diet and exercise. So then, what's the point of the steroids if you can just up your game with diet and exercise to begin with.

Also add into this equation that many steroids cause water gain while you are on them and for a time afterwards. Usually 5-10 pounds. This water gain makes the muscles look bigger, but it actually accumulates more in fat, making your love handles looking even bigger!

But, doing a course of just testosterone at a fairly low dose, might up your metabolism and muscle building potential a bit, and get some results. But you need to look up PCT or post-cycle therapy to see how to re-adjust your body so your natural testosterone levels come back afterwards. I am on testosterone medically, and it changed my body composition in very positive ways. However, I NEEDED it medically, my natural testosterone levels were extremely low.

Great answer. It's silly for someone who has a wrong diet, wrong training routine to think steroids will make it any better. Steroids are for people who want to go beyond their natural limits after these limits have been reached.

I think your friends who do use would be the best reference for you as the majority of people in the US will be adamantly against steroids. It's also illegal. Not many are open admitting to a crime.

In my opinion if you think the benefits outweighs the negative consequence then go for it. There are other forums your can use to find users who can point you in the right direction.

Saw one guy in the gym last night who was definitely on steroids. Upper body looked like the Hulk but of course, his legs had no definition.

Saw him again in the locker room as he was headed to the showers, and his back was full of acne. Shame as he was really handsome but the steroids have left him looking like a plastic toy.

One thing you could do is use natural growth hormone releasers like peptides or even L-Arginine. L-arginine is very cheap but you have to take about 8 grams or more on an empty stomach about 30 minutes before bed for it to work. I know it works and it also makes you sleep much deeper. The dose is very individual and your weight is a factor. Growth hormone is probably the most effective natural hormone for removing fat around the waist. You can also use an L-Arginine/L-Orthinine combo but I find L-arginine to be the more effective amino acid. Oh and don't bother taking them during the day while you are eating or after work outs, they don't really work well that way and studies show it. Take complete protein during the day.

I think this is probably the best suggestion I've heard. I mean, I know there's a stigma around steroids but I've seen other forums where there are usrs who talk about the proper way of using them. Of course, who knows what goes on with them in the future but if you think that the benefits will outweigh the negatives and you are that adamant in using them, remember to do your research. And yeah, talk to your friends about it too and see what they do. Of course, every body is different but it never hurts to get other opinions.

    Stay safe.

There is a difference between steroid use and steroid abuse. Unfortunately the abusers get the most attention. As a result steroids are highly illegal more so than heroin. But just like heroin, steroids are use by millions of people everyday.

    That's usually an attitude problem.

AAS are well know for promoting a sense of well-being, and self-confidence. That's why they are used in the sickest of the sick, with the most fragile of systems: HIV, cancer, burns, athletic rehab, HRT (for sexual function and combating depression). I'm afraid you're badly uneducated here. T3 (not a steroid) is also a strong anti-depressant and, prior to SSRI use, was the treatment of choice for depression. SSRI's have been shown to be no more effective than placebo in all but a few cases.

Most of the really big guys you meet, are gregarious, gifted, make a much better income, and are more social than most. (The GAO studied this at length in 2007 for Congress.) GAO said, basically, "You can't fool these guys with misinformation because they are smarter than that." It's the same thing that happened with pot.

While high dose orals WILL lower HDLs (steroids have a basis in cholesterol), and possibly cause some benign liver function issues (not as bad as Tylenol, though) you could take 5 kilos a week of testosterone injected without real damage. The biggest risk from AAS use is estrogen (E2) management, from the higher levels of testosterone. (All test breaks down into DHT and estrogen.) That's easily managed. In folks over 28, or so, HRT can provide enhancements in well being / mood, libido, diseases of aging, and skeletal muscle. That's why its the second most popular prescription now among men. There's only ever been one study, out of dozens, that says HRT increases disease risk.

AAS are not close to opiates. Not even. No withdrawal. No impaired function. No risk of death. No risk of overdose. There has NEVER been a death attributed to AAS.... EVER.

Juice is illegal because folks were crying in their armchairs about it in sports...not because there is a health concern.

Watch "Bigger, Stronger, Faster", and Nat Geo's "The Science of Steroids" to become less ignorant.

Ever watch "Reefer Madness?" Do. You'll see how government manipulates public information.

Not even the DEA voted to control AAS. In fact, out of 7 major organizations asked on the whether AAS should be controlled, ALL said NO. Time and again.

    Get educated.

Thanks for this post. In my case, however, I'm getting really frustrated with my hormone replacement therapy. Although prior lab tests indicate that my free testosterone levels are less than half of the low end of normal (normal range according to labs is 40 to 70 and mine was 19!!), I'm really not seeing much of a benefit other than looking a bit more muscular. But the big drawback is that my love handles and my lower back fat levels get out of control. There's a reason why I don't show any pictures of my backside. icon_rolleyes.gif Although from the front I look pretty muscular and lean, my back side looks like an hourglass figure and this lower back fat really bothers me. I also take half a milligram of Arimidex 3 to 4 days a week to control estrogenic side effects. I'm assuming that my love handles are a result from aromatization and conversion of testosterone to a estrogen in my body. Arimidex also does help in preventing any gynecomestia development under my nipples, which I am very prone to developing. But I am really frustrated because testosterone hormone replacement therapy actually makes me kinda fat. I'm actually thinking about going off for a little while and even though my diet will still be the same the same I will actually get really lean and look more muscular. I know this because when I went off of testosterone replacement therapy for three months a couple years my endocrinologist saw me in regular street garb and said that I looked so much more muscular. I told her I lost all the water and back fat. My waistline was really tight, I no longer had lower body back fat and love handles. And the veins in my waist were casting shadows cuz my fat levels were much lower.

I wish there were a way to counteract this and still have healthy (albeit exogenously applied/injected) testosterone. If anyone can chime in please do so. All the cardio in the world doesn't seem to help make this go away.

My cholesterol levels shot up also when I went off of hormone replacement therapy (from 160 to 205) so that's a borderline concern.

Sounds like a pretty high dose of Arimidex if you were taking it 3-4 times a week. You should look into Zinc as a natural aromatization supplement. Men take 30-100mg a day for this purpose and it can work as well or better than the medications (100mg seems really high though). If you want I can refer you to a pharmacist that specializes in mens hormone replacement therapy that has the very latest research you can bring to your doctor. Message me if you want it.

Also, as you may know the long-estered forms of testosterone like Test Cypionate can produce weight and water gain much more than the simpler esters or pure testosterone. So if you are using injectable test, its' probably Cypionate. This is one reasons that the creams can be a good idea for some people, since it's pure testosterone, and can produce a leaner effect. Also, I did testosterone pellet implants and that was awesome, and it was pure testosterone too, released in a steady way to the body, so is the most like natural test as you can get.
