That would be basically your entire medical history from birth to death. All records, all test results, any medical vulnerabilities or differences, etc.

Can you opt out of it? Nope, not if your provider is keeping the records electronically, and they either all are or will be.

The federal government is piecing together a sweeping national “biosurveillance” system that will give bureaucrats near real-time access to Americans’ private medical information in the name of national security, according to Twila Brase, a public health nurse and co-founder of the Citizens Council for Health Freedom.

The Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response is currently seeking public comment on a 52-page draft of the proposed “National Health Security Strategy 2015-2018” (NHSS).

This is really bad. I suppose Obama and Holder could block it, but they won't.

Because they want it. It's a dictator's dream. Any of us need written permission just to get two doctor's offices to talk to each other, but the government (god of the left) has easy access.

First off, for some reason when I was reading the article, chicken little kept coming to mind. I kept hearing the sky is falling, the sky is falling. The author looks and sounds like she is missing her tin foil hat.

but on to my serious thoughts, the information is already collected by your doctors offices and pharmacies. So your "secrets" are already readily available. They know whether or not you are being prescribed anti-virals or antibioitcs. This would be streamlining the information. Say if this doctor over here is diagnosing a certain number of patients with a virus and that doctor over there is also doing the same, it would be helpful if someone knew that both the doctors were having patients come down with the same virus. That local officials can be warned that there is a viral outbreak that the public should be aware of. And for this to be of any use of course it would have to be real time. If there is a deadly outbreak I would rather have the full force and readiness of a federal institution on top of it rather than be dependent upon a doctors office going to the rigorous channels as it is now just to get it to a local level. I don't imagine there being too many instances that the government will pinpoint in particular individual for something minute such as a fungal infection on the foot.

And as far as knowing how much you exercise, which is where the sky is falling really screams at me. That is information that even your own doctor wouldn't know if you shared it. You could be working out in your basement out of the view of everyone,,, or at least you think. Better make sure you don't have your laptop or smartphone pointed in your direction. ;)

One last thing, and this is my chicken little moment. Bio-terrorism is real.

    the sky is not falling

I don't think the government has the right (or the authority) to know (and keep records) of every man's HIV screening (and results), every woman's syphilis diagnosis or every kid's diabetes test result.

every infectious disease is already reported now anonymously

so what exactly is the point other than intrusion?

Can you actually provide a link to where it states that they will be collecting that particular data?

Here is a link to the site map that the pdf hyperlink in the article you linked. If you are making this statement then you should be able to back it up. right?

    http://www.phe.gov/Pages/SiteMap.aspx

and the reason why I question the article is that it mentions they will be keeping records of plant life as well. I think the author is reading too much into the purpose of the program and I prefer to make my judgements off of facts and not off of someone's blog.
