Which is better for you, taking a pre workout or just taking caffeine pills? Which one do you feel like you get a better pump from?

Well I'd avoid any "pills" of any kind honestly. I consume caffeine in drinks and too much of it makes me a little dizzy... so I'd probably avoid it.

If you don't want to do that...then try and gain it naturally, not from pills.

Yeah I've noticed the caffeine pills make my stomach hurt like hell but I love the energy I get from them but pre workouts make my stomach hurt too.

I can't stomach the caffeine pills either but have found some pre workout drinks that give me the energy buzz and pump but minimal stomach issues. You're supposed to have some carbs and fat before workout anyway so I usually eat a piece of whole grain toast with a little butter. Keeps the stomach from objecting (usually). If I can, I look for Guarana as the source of caffeine. Seems easier on the digestive tract.

Pills are cheaper in the long run. Try drinking a lot of water or take it with some food. I do the pills on an empty stomach but with lots of water.

That's one of the reasons why I got the pills but I guess ill just do what you said and drink lots of water.

I get my best pumps from a few minutes of pre-workout meditation. It allows me to clear my mind and focus on the workout.

Not all pre-workouts are stimulating. Many of the newer synthetic "caffeines" act more predictably. They last a couple of hours and then dissipate with no crash.

caffeine pills or energy drinks do NOT give you a "pump." I drink a cup of coffee half-hour before gym and it assists in getting me through my workout. I am a trainer and train many clients via skype. Hit me up if you would like more info.

A lot of guys will tell ya to buy this or that pre workout supplement...My opinion? Most are overpriced. I buy caffeine powder in bulk from BB.COM for about 6 bucks. I'll mix it in powder powder or sports drink...DONE.

I have a cup of coffee before heading to the gym. It wakes you up a bit, but also, caffeine indirectly blocks pain in your muscles, whether lifting or cardio. I'd be yawning and tapped out too soon without it.
