Any suggestions for good neighborhoods to look at? I need a change of scene and I'm interested to go down South. Political stuff aside, it is not deterring me from considering going there.

I lived there for some time, it's a gigantic area. I need more specifics. House, condo, rental, purchase? Are you going to work and where?

Phoenix is cut in 1/2 with the Streets to the east and Avenues to the west. I prefer the Streets. I don't know too much about the area west of SR51 (the 51 freeway), Glendale, etc.

Then there's Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Paradise Valley($$). Scottsdale alone is huge and diverse.

    Mesa sucks

I'm looking to lease ideally an apartment, that's all I really need. Just a one bedroom. I am job seeking and hoping to transfer within my corporation to a location in the area (hotels).

I don't have pets, and I'd live alone. Needs are pretty simple for now, so I'm not incredibly picky. Looking for affordable, but also areas which are accessible for seeing the city and being close to places worth checking out. Near a gym would be great, because I'd find a membership at one.

One of the properties is Royal Palms Resort and Spa, which is addressed in Phoenix proper.

    ^^

Royal Palms is pretty pricey (it's very old school, snooty, blue hair - Bush used to stay there) nice area and golf course though. Right at the foot of Camelback Mtn basically on Camelback Road and around 50th St

There are 24Hr and LA Fitness nearby

I used to live close to there at 44th St and McDonald Rd
