They are also a pretty racist and homophobic party, so nothing to celebrate here.

Looking on the bright side, the chances of them ever having any real power in this country are extremely low. The best they can hope for is to split the conservative vote at the next general election, which is bad news all round for the right.

I think the British are wising up to the fact that the EU is a failed experiment and is unsustainable without the constant influx of German and ECB money.

Now Italy is going to start adding prostitution and illegal drug sales to it's GDP in a desperate attempt to make it's Debt/GDP goal.

I'm not kidding, Bloomberg ran the story

The EU economy is around the same size as the economy of the US, which isn't bad going for a 'failed experiment'.

lol any group of countries can add up their GDP and count it as one - even the Europeans know the EU is a failure

    actually, you are

    from Bloomberg:

"Drugs, prostitution and smuggling will be part of GDP as of 2014 and prior-year figures will be adjusted to reflect the change in methodology, the Istat national statistics office said today. The revision was made to comply with European Union rules, it said.

Renzi, 39, is committed to narrowing Italy’s deficit to 2.6 percent of GDP this year, a task that’s easier if output is boosted by portions of the underground economy that previously went uncounted. Four recessions in the last 13 years left Italy’s GDP at 1.56 trillion euros ($2.13 trillion) last year, 2 percent lower than in 2001 after adjusting for inflation."

The EU (other than Germany and maybe France is a joke). The Euro will die a slow death.

I don't think people voted UKIP into councils because they hate Europe as councillors have no say in National policy. It was more of big fuck you to the main parties. It's a shame the Greens didn't receive the anti politics vote though because they are a much better party.

The reason the EU kinda sucks is because you can't have a single currency being used across member states with very rich economies and very poor economies. It's totally ludicrous. It's lead to a huge influx of low skilled labour coming to UK. We talk about the net migration figures but sadly the people leaving the country are highly skilled workers moving to Germany or rich pensioners moving to Spain and the vast majority of immigration coming to UK is unskilled workers which is contributing to our low wage economy. It's too simplistic of politicians to simply state the numbers of people coming and going.

I will challenge the view that UKIP are racist though because I believe it to be unfair. Under Nigel Farrages points based system actually our immigration policy would be less racist. Currently due to our open door policy to the rest of Europe we have to discriminate against people from none EU countries to keep the immigration figures down.

I do not want us to leave Europe but we need to have debate whereby we set out what powers we will allow Europe to have and what powers must remain sovereign. Also Europe needs to be less expensive and far more democratic. If we are to meet our green targets though then we do need to be a part of Europe because none of the main parties view green matters as a top of their priorities.

The only way for the UK to actually have any credibility to the rest of the world is to vote the Green party in the general election. If we have another Tory or Tory lead government our country will be beyond repair icon_sad.gif
