What razor do you use to shave your face?

Every time I shave I never have a smooth, clean shaven look. I always end up looking like I have 5 o'clock shadow. I think it's the razors I use. What razors do you guys use? Any recommendations on one that will help? Thanks icon_biggrin.gif

I'm too lazy to go look at it to tell you the brand name, but I can certainly tell you it's not a straight razor.

I was in the same situation as you - I had the same experience of looking like I needed a shave just a few hours after having one. And if I tried to get a close shave, I ended up with cuts that had to be patched up before I could leave......(little pieces of tissue stuck to each bloody cut). I'd buy one after another of the best shavers. I tried hot shave cream with an electric dispenser. I did everything I could to get a close shave without bleeding. Finally - I discovered a solution and it has worked for me for a lot of years. Gillette Mach III shaving - - IN the shower - where all the steam and hot water help make it a close, clean, bloodless shave. I do it near the end of my shower - so the beard has plenty of time for the steam to soften it. Problem solved = no more cuts and a very close shave. By rinsing it well and making sure it's dry, I make each cartridge last 2 weeks.

I realized when I was about your age that I needed **2** shaves a day. It's a myth that many men can shave once in the morning, and it does him for the entire day.

Some of us need a second shave around 5 PM, if we're gonna go out again. In fact, in the Army I used to shave again around 2, to eliminate my "shadow".

Well, think about it. Your beard grows non-stop, continuously. It doesn't stop after your morning shave, and waits to grow again when you go to sleep at night. It grows every second of the day.

When you're a young man your beard is its heaviest, and darkest. At 65 my beard has thinned and gotten white, but I still shave twice a day most times. I shaved this morning, and before I go out tonight for dinner, I'll shave again. It's just whatcha gotta do. You're a MAN!

As for which razor, I use a Norelco electric for convenience. For very special occasions I'll use a blade, to get extra close.

My husband likes a blade (if I can get him to use it, what a scruff bucket). For Christmas I bought him a $600 shaving outfit. Sharkespeare was with me when I went shopping for it.

It isn't that it shaves him better than something from the grocery store, but I wanted it all to match his bathroom decor, and maybe encourage him to use it, seeing this outrageously beautiful set on his bathroom counter. I'm such a queen. icon_redface.gif

    ^this!

    2. you should roughly know the angle the direction your are shaving & how you protrude your jaw a little stretch your skin a little that will do.

    * beside I'm looking for this below the straight razor,icon_confused.gif cant get hold of it yet, cause I want to manually shape my sideburns and beards into shapes that I want without the need of playing approximity with the Gillette icon_rolleyes.gif and keep it sharply clean shaved .

And if you need a mirror, they have mirrors with suction cups specifically for this purpose that you can adhere to the wall of your shower.

I don't personally have this problem (I get so little hair that I just pluck whatever shows up), but I've bought a couple of those mirrors now and then for partners and friends. Huge help for shower shaving, I understand.

I use the Dollar Shave Club. It's this awesome program (in the U.S. only, as far as I know) where they send you cheap razor blades every month. You can pick between three different options (single blade, 3-blade, and four-blade, I think?). I get the middle option and it's good enough for me. If you're interested in trying it, I get credits for referring you, so send me a message and I'll get you the code.

Yeah, I also use this one. Mach 3 is fine, but I think this is better.

Man it must suck having to shave twice a day. I am 25 and can go 2-3 days between shaves haha. I think it is good to have good shaving cream too. I use Edge ultra sensitive shave cream. I also like the Bic Flex 4 disposable razors. There is nothing like a razor not a huge fan of the electric ones.

I used to use Fusion Power, but now I use the Schick Hydro 5 Power Select to save some money. It's not Bic disposable or Dollar Shave cheap, but the replacement blades are quite a bit cheaper than Fusion. They also seem to last longer than Fusion and I've found they work just as well. I only shave every other day because my skin is pretty sensitive and I look pretty rough on the day in between, but is better than breaking out by shaving too frequently.
