My hope for this European election is for the Green party to hopefully double or triple its number of MEPs in the UK.

My other hope is the BNP doesn't get a single MEP elected.

Good luck to all the Green candidates and left wing candidates across Europe!

The results show starts at 11pm and is on until about 3am but I guess it depends on if everything been counted. The UK voted on Thursday so we should hopefully have everything counted and confirmed but some countries had elections today so I'm doubtful we'll get all the results tonight.

Greens could do so much better if people didn't A) think of them as a single issue party and B) if they got even half the media coverage on BBC political shows and newspaper coverage as UKIP.

Fingers crossed the green actually gets to take part in a leadership debate in 2015.

What about Labour? The Conservatives aren't doing as well.

Labour are the better of two evils when it comes to labs and cons. I will not even consider voting for either until we get rid of first past the post. The head of the electoral commission wants us to move to proportional representation but neither party has the guts for fear that they will lose seats. Admittedly its like asking a turkey to vote for Christmas but at the same time if politicians can't act in favour of democracy then they are all just corrupt career politicians in my eyes.

There was a recent vote on AV, which was rejected. Electoral reform is off the table for a generation now.

Aint the point in voting that you vote for the one you want, not give a vote for other people to use, that AV and other ways are totally stupid ways of voting. Im excited to see what new parties will get results.

Av was a terrible idea. I'm talking about changing our system to being just like the European election system.

It doesn't matter, if the vote had been a yes it could have changed again after, but people voted for no change so that is what they will get. Of course if Scotland votes for independence the government will be Tory for some time.

New Parties will never get in with first past the post. We have such voter apathy because people who vote for the smaller parties are sick of their vote meaning nothing and that's why we're stuck in a never ending cycle of a two party system.

Well in the end first past the post is the better system as you put your mark and its done you have made your mark, AV or them other systems or like making your mark and letting others use it also, like a dog pisses and makes it mark but with av you piss in a bottle and someone else scatters it.

And the two parties are the ones who get to decide if it changes. So it doesn't (not that PR is perfect).

One of many reasons i support a monarchy as the queen stays impartial and the ruler is not political.

Supporting or not supporting a monarchy has no bearing on parliament though as she doesn't actually rule anything. The queen is impartial and actually has no power in this country. The royal family are more like celebrity figures/ambassadors.

The only power the queen has is the right to veto a bill and she can only a veto a bill twice before it goes through anyways.
