What is "proper" steam room etiquette at the gym? I know a lot of people are different but should I wear my shorts, wrap around a towel, etc..?

I would say wear a towel, don't sit naked on the bench (that would be gross anyway) and give others their space.

I've always understood the rule to be you go in naked but put a town down where you intend to sit.

yeah I've seen some people do that but others just wear shorts so I guess it's just whatever you feel comfortable with

True. Just don't wear shorts that have metal on them (some board shorts for example have metal buttons or loops) because in steam rooms and saunas they can get hot enough to burn your skin. Ouch!

    Mixed sex: swimming trunks
Guys only: you can be naked, wear swimming trunks or underwear
Girls only: you can't go in icon_razz.gif
If in Germany or Scandinavia you should be naked even in a mixed one icon_eek.gif

Some bros at the gym are fuckin lame. They go into the steam room right after their workout.. with their gym clothes/shoes still on. Then they walk out, roam around the gym to make sure every sees how sweaty and swole they are. Then goes home. icon_rolleyes.gif

My gym is co-ed so you'd want to wear shorts or trunks. What gets me is guys that go in there and then start their stretching and exercising. There's 40 thousand square feet out there to exercise and you have to come into the steam room to disrupt my quiet time! Bastards!

In a men's steam room you can usually be naked. Always sit on a towel, or wear one. Never sit bare-ass on the tiles, or wooden bench in a sauna. Some facilities provide a disposable paper sheet to sit on from a large roll outside the steam room door.

As in a sauna, you will have a better experience if you are fully naked, to expose your skin entirely to the heat without clothing restrictions, but see what the other guys are doing. Check for signage that may tell you if you must wear something inside, or alternately if nudity is required.

My routine is to take cool showers every 15 minutes, which are typically located just outside the men's steam room or sauna. And then I return for another 15 minutes of heat, my total time normally 45. For this reason I'm naked, except for a towel. Before I enter either steam room or sauna I take a naked soapy shower.

If it's a co-ed facility I wear loose boxer-style cotton gym shorts, with a drawstring, no elastic waistband. I've learned I get an allergic reaction from latex elastic. Not usually a problem for me to wear latex at other times, but with the heat and sweat right against my skin I'll get a rash. Also why I won't wear a swimsuit in the sauna or steam room.

You guys are worthless. Here I thought I was finally going to learn the secret signals for letting other guys know I was available for giving or getting a blowjob and all I've learned is to sit on my towel. icon_sad.gif

    Sorry. OK...
    1. Sit naked on a towel.
    2. Get a hardon.
    3. Enjoy your blowjob.
