I watched the National Memorial Day Concert tonight and it just really hit a soft spot in my heart. My eyes were filled with tears most of the show as they recounted the brave men and women of the military conflicts in history. My heart was filled with compassion for all those who served to defend us but also for all those who stood beside each of them.

For all of those who served and for all of those that stay home and waited....thank you. For all the conflicts that have resulted in all of us being able to live in liberty with freedom unknown to so many in the world...thank you! Thank you so much!

Whether you agree with the conflict or how/why we got there, it doesn't matter, you have to respect those that were there representing our freedom and accepting the challenge to ensure that we remain free from harm. From the World Wars to Korea to Vietnam to Desert Storm to Iraq to Afghanistan, thank you. Thank you very much!

It's amazing how touching simple acts of remembrance can be isn't it?

It's strange. I searched for "Memorial Day" and only found a few threads about people's plans for Memorial Day. This one didn't come up. It's fun to talk about vacations, but this holiday, as you know, is about something far more somber than barbecues and family outings. It's about honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

By "our country" I mean the United States. But, of course, many other countries have their own variation of a holiday celebrating those who lost their lives in military service.

Thank you for posting this thread. I sincerely hope the trolls will find the decency to stay out of it.

EDIT: Here's another memorial thread the search didn't pick up. What's up with that, RJ?
