Couldn't find a thread for the RG / French this year, so, here it is. Early now, but enjoyed the coverage today. Rafa came out mediocre for him but kicked butt, having drawn the far-beyond-his-prime Ginepri. Have to wonder if Rafa is up to go the distance, based on his play today. Wawrinka falling miserably to unseeded Garcia-Lopez was tough to watch. We love Rafa and hope..... but we'll see what happens. For all our fellow tennis buffs, ENJOY!

icon_lol.gif Not likely but it would be at least great to see Federer and Nadal in the finals. More likely it'll be Djokovic and Nadal.

If Nadal doesn't get upset by a Ferrer or Almagro (very unlikely at the FO best of 5) he will have Djoker waiting in the Final and I think this year Novak will get over the FO Nadal Hump. He's ready and takes a lot of confidence from beating Nadal the last 4 times they played especially the way he did it in Rome. I just Hope Fed doesn't get in the way of Djoker like he did in 2011. I am and will always be a Federer fan but the very last thing we need to see is a Nadal/Federer final ever again...especially at the French -it's just too painful for Federer fans at this point. A Nadal/Djokovic Final will be an instant classic.

Agreed on all points (in particular the point about another painful Federer loss, if it comes to that) EXCEPT for the prediction of the Nadal/Djokovic outcome. Nadal is motivated to break out of the tie for the record number of wins at RG, and this might be his last chance. That alone might give him an edge over Djokovic's gaining win ratio over Nadal. But either way, if it is the two of them in the finals, it'll be a helluva match! We'll be there to watch it in person, so here's hoping.

Yeah there is a lot of motivation for Nadal as you said with number 9 there for him along with the fact that he is just a beast at Roland Garros and beating him there for 3 sets is another story -one man has done it in 9 years and I think Soderling is still recovering from that win.
For Novak he needs to step it up mentally if it comes down to a 5th set in the final. I think how these two play to get to the finals will also be a factor. Either way your going to see an amazing match...enjoy Paris!

Thanks! Looks to be a wet one there, but beats the hot/wet Wimbledon that's likely to come. Have umbrellas; will travel! icon_biggrin.gif

Garcia-Lopez is easy on the eyes and I like the way he plays, but it was painful to watch Wawrinka play like that.

I love Federer, Nadal, and the Djoker and I'd be fine with any of them winning. I loved how the Djoker invited that handsome ball boy to share a drink with him under the umbrella. What a charmer!

I don't care much about the women, and my girl Michelle Larcher de Brito lost in the first round to that horrible Julia Goerges, but now that she's gone, I'll have to put all my money on Cibulkova.

A shame Wawrinka lost. Wanted it to be a Nadal Djokovic or Djokovic Warinka final.

    In your dreams... icon_biggrin.gif

Doesn't anybody else think, like Agassi, that Nadal is the best player of all time?
On clay there is not a shadow of a doubt. IMO

I've been playing tennis my whole life. Tennis is my passion. It's so sad to see that most people only cheer for players such as federer, nadal or djoko. There are other good players such as Benneteau, Davidenko, Mathieu. My favorite is always going to be Roddick but he's retired already. I hope to see a new face winner this year!! icon_smile.gif

    Cheers!!

And how about Li Na exiting stage left a little early?

First time the male and female winners of the previous Grand Slam titles lost in the very first round of the next one.

Pulling for Woz no matter how long her run lasts here. Never good timing to breakup, but c'mon, Rory.

    EDIT: Whoops!

Sharapova may have some decent competition to get there, but it won't be the same without a Maria/Serena battle, something like a beauty v. the beast match. (LOVE "the beast", though!)

Right there with ya. We leave tomorrow. Fortunately there's still a great run up to and then the men's final looming.
