They shouldn't be driving, unless they have a 100% electric car or alternative fuel because. . .

Gas is a fossil fuel and well that would make it an animal by product from millions of years ago.

regardless of how the animals died, it is still an animal by product.

the definition of a vegan is: "Vegans endeavor not to use or consume animal products of any kind."

    damn hypocrites!

lol, just a realization i had when i saw a bumper stiger that said "LIVE VEGAN" and i said "Ride a damn bike then!"

    lol

Crude oil is formed from marine algae and zooplankton, so yeah, petroleum-based fuels are not vegan. But, coal is generally formed from terrestrial plants. Clean! Green! Vegan Coal!

If vegetarians eat vegetables, what do humanitarians eat?
If pro and con are opposites, what is the opposite of progress?

What do you call a militant vegan?
    Lactose intolerant.

What did one vegetarian spy say to the other vegetarian spy?
We have to stop meating like this.

    Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?

A guy goes to his doctor because he has celery sticking out of one ear, lettuce out of the other, and a zucchini up his nose.
The doctor tells him, "Well, you're not eating right."

What do you call a vegan guy who likes to pleasure himself?
    A non-dairy creamer.

    ....and I am spent.

If vegans had it right, lions would be eating tofu.

Gotta have your minimum 40g of protein a day or you'll waste away icon_wink.gif

Although I'm not a vegetarian, there are other ways of getting protein. You can get it in shakes, or 45g protein bullets. Whether or not it is the same quality protein, I don't know.

I think it comes from milk. I know with the protein bullets its New Whey Protein. The idea of liquefied meat is nasty!

Not all definitions of vegan have the "use or" part in it. Regarding consuming animal products, even the exasperating stretch regarding fossil fuels wouldn't apply to ingesting them. Not vegan myself, though ova-lacto vegetarian. but I do find myself wondering why people bother deriding them.

So, it's not how the majority lives? Who on this site lives exactly as the majority does anyway?icon_rolleyes.gif

Poor vegans. Only dinner party hosts suffer for vegans, but vegetarians who eat fish, now that's a whole different ball game. There's probably no animal on this planet that suffers for our eating pleasure like fish do.

It's very difficult to get a good diet when being restrictive.

I think man was meant to eat meat / milk.

Amino acids are the building blocks, and to get complete amino acids, in much quantity, you just have to eat meat/fish/milk. Gotta', gotta', gotta'.

Heh. Don't bother. The whole vegan/vegetarian thing comes up every once in a while when somebody is bored and decides to start a flame war. Or at least tries to (like this thread, obviously) - it's nice to see that the vegans aren't taking the bait for once (lousy pun intended).

If anyone truly wanted to learn about veganism/vegetarianism, they'd be much better off just doing a keyword search and starting an actual conversation with one of the many healthy vegan/vegetarian guys on this site.

a flame war?? umm ok lol

i just want to know why vegans don't view fossil fuels as animal by products? and if they do then why do they call themselves vegans? because being a vegan isn't only what you ingest/imbibe it's a lifestyle, i mean you can get vegan shoes haha

so educate me, it doesnt exactly show VEGAN on every vegans profile lol.

    Bullshit.

You don't seek education by calling those you are questioning hypocrites. No, not everyone advertises their diet/lifestyle, but did you even consider contacting one of the 40 or so that pop up when you search for "vegan" about this question? Or did you start a forum where you call them hypocrites and laugh about yelling at someone with a vegan bumper "stiger"?

I'm sure this was supposed to start an intelligent conversation but let's consider that the term vegan has changed since it's original use in the 1970's.

It may be slang for a preference in diet since the term vegan to me means to preferably not eat meat, where poultry and eggs are somewhat allowed I eat dairy products.

Since this isn't harmful to the animal in question, the eggs being unfertilized, and the poultry would preferably come from a free range farm where animals are treated humanely without cruelty of limited movement in an industrial egg warehousing operation where old chickens after so many thousands of eggs are simply put out to pasture - the pasture being the local fast food chicken outlet.

No, I'm not going to say that I refuse to use machines that use fossil fuels, since most of that is from vegetation and animal matter buried in the soil and cooked deep in the earths mantle for at least ten thousand years, the bus I ride is being phased out for hybrids, and the subway doesn't use gas, but electricity... ...or I walk. I'm a meat product of my mother and father and I walk, using my own two legs, so let's not get picky.

Have a great new year! (The old one needed fixing.)

plus i think it's all bullshit anyway, especially the fake meat stuff, i mean if you want something to taste like turkey then buy turkey, not turkey flavored tofu (tofurkey) obviously the person likes the taste of meat buy the real thing.

and . . . o sry i lost my train of thought the chicken picatta i made for dinner is yummy icon_smile.gif

    Bullshit.

If you wanted to start a conversation, you would have simply asked the question that you wanted answered. You wouldn't have made a pronouncement, described your conditions and conclusions, called your intended audience a bunch of hypocrites, and ended with a (rather poor) joke. It is quite clear that your mind is made up on this matter.

If you really want a discussion, next time try starting a thread without the judgments and name-calling.
