Sorry - stupid drunk post. Don't remember what the point was supposed to be but that wasn't it.

Yes, my Mom passed away after a long illness. Thanks for your concern.

Not looking for attention (really). Just trying to start an aphasic syncronicitic rap.

Weird. Re: Mom - it has been brought to my attention that it was 20 years ago today that her sister died (motorcycle accident.) Synchronicity anyone?

When my mom died and we had to fly that casket up north.

Where we were born. Where everyone is buried.

I started losing it in the airport heading home.

My brother who normally never touches me put his arm around my shoulder and held me close.

And he said the stupidest thing that made so much sense.

"Everyone goes through this. We just got it out of the way."

My condolences on your great loss.

I'm sorry to hear about that. It immediately reminded me if the day my dad died. He had an initial heart attack so went to the hospital and I raced back home. It took two hours to get there and he had a second, massive one 10 minutes before I got there. When I got there he was gone, literally. I didn't get to see him until 2 days later. Sigh. It's nice that you got to hold her hand, I think.

    Thanks, guys, but really...
Ah... same thing with Dad about ten years ago. Very strange thing indeed to let go and realize that the pater familias has just crawled up your arm.

I've spent enough time in ICU's over the last decade to see this happen to dozens of different families and it is kind of amazing the way different people deal with it.
Speaking of which, the people in the ICU were amazing. I can't imagine how they do that every day.

Life is so short. We take for granted that we are here now. Only when someone close to us passes do we really feel it. I felt it big time when my entire family stopped talking to me a few years back. It was horrific. A loss like death. They didn't like the real me. Now, after many years my MOM is trying. It's sad, because it's like brain surgery. Your never quite the same. I am not. My dad told me I didn't deserve his last name......Life and the people in it are fragile...... I can feel that now!!!

So sorry to read about your mom's passing. I've liked your posts for years and my impression is that you're a great son. Take care.
