How badly did your chest itch after you shaved it?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about shaving my chest for the first time ever! I have trimmed the hair before but when I did my chest itched so bad it almost drove me crazy. If that was just a trim I shudder to think about what shaving it must be like. How badly does it itch after you shave? Any suggestions to prevent it?

I think it has to do with hygiene.
Do you wash the shaving clippers and other stuff with soap or after shaving lotion or whatever before you use them? And also it's better to shave after washing the desired area with soap and then after you're done with trimming/shaving, take a shower and put on newly washed clothes instead of old ones as many men do.

And also, the direction of your hand movement. Are you moving your trimmer or razor towards the direction of hair or against it?

And finally the trimmer itself...some are made with cheap materials which may cause allergic reactions. This is quite rare though.

Well, I'm typically a very clean guy. And guessing it had to do with me not washing the area immediately after I trimmed. Also probably the direction that I shaved was incorrect. Thanks for the advice!

Go for a wax. Lasts longer and removes the hair better than shaving.

This is what I get for only reading the topic title.

I pulled out a storage chest, lathered it up and shaved it with a razor, then laughed and said, "I'm not itchy."

Bill came in, gave me an odd look, and went back outside.

I haven't shaved my chest in quite a long time, now.
I used to shave it, once a week, and I don't remember it ever itching.
    I used a regular razor.
I might have applied aloe vera gel, afterward.
That's what I use after I shave my face...

Agreed. Anyone who shaves their body hair disqualifies themselves from boinking this hot Puertorican. Give me hair or give me death!

No chest hair to shave here.

For those who have chest hair, please don't shave. Chest hair is hot. icon_redface.gif

I don't have any chest hair.

It's your body...do with it what you want. Don't mind people telling you what you should do. It is really none of their business. You could always try it and if you don't like it let it grow back. It is hair after all.

Mine doesn't itch when I shaved it years ago..
but I don't anymore since I think it looks better in it's natural state on my frame than without.
It's like my salt and pepper hair. Just let it look natural rather than something fake.
I like the hair on my chest.

See... those don't itch on me either. Neither does facial hair when I grow that out. I think some of us have soft hair all over and it's easier to shave and let it come back without the itch factor.

    Hey guys
Thanks for chiming in! I guess the whole reason I wanted to shave is so that what little chest definition I have would show. I also guess I thought chest hair was widely disliked. Thanks to those of u who said I should keep it!

I hadn't ever shaved before I tried it 2 years ago and then it was sort of a "season effort" during the summer. I was surprised I didn't have much of a shaving rash issue..

I do think I'd rather trim than shave. A great hairy chest is an asset I think I'd rather keep!

Once or twice a week after getting out of the shower I pass a wet mach3 razor over my chest withOUT shaving creme. It keeps it short without irritation. The shower softens the hairs so they come off easily. Also, avoid soap and shower gels on the chest and your skin will be less irritated. Water is all you need to get clean. A really general purpose topical for irritated skin, after shave, or sun damaged skin that I've used for years is http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fruit-Of-The-Earth-Aloe-Vera-Gel-12-Oz/10314797

Just your chest won't be enough. Everything's gotta go, including the eyebrows and eyelashes. Don't buy the store-brand NIX, trust me, you'll just have to go through the whole thing again.

Crabs is a nasty business. Good luck, friend.

Why on Earth would you want to shave your chest? You obviously have very sexy body hair so why remove it? Are you trying to look like a 12 year old or a girl? icon_confused.gif

Definition shows just as well through hair, In fact, on really hair guys the hair can accentuate the cuts where the hair is darker between muscles.
