I'm going to turn this topic on its head, Mikey.

Imagine if we had gone in the other direction and actually made Kuwait our 51st state during the first Gulf War! When the Kuwaitis were worried about being annexed by Iraq, they could have very simply become another star on Old Glory. Who would dare attack a U.S. flagged oil tanker heading from one state (Kuwait) to the U.S. mainland? Interfere with U.S. interstate commerce??? Heck, they had the relationship with the Bushes. We wouldn't have nad any oil problems. Add about another US$176 Billion in GDP to the U.S. economy. And, talk about the greatest geographic projection of U.S. power since Alaska and Hawai'i statehood!

"You want U.S. protection? Then become a U.S. state!"

Wouldn't that have changed the whole geopolitical game???

102 Senators total. Approximately 5 Congressional districts to represent 3.25 million Kuwaitis. Boy oh boy the RJ political forums would REALLY go off the rails!

Make the Union stronger in what sense? Financially? Vermont ain't looking too good. They need to sell more of them teddy bears and maple syrup. Otherwise, GTFO. icon_lol.gif

Florida: Between trying to rig elections, responsible for Bush vs. Gore, hurricanes, and a stand your ground law allowing you to kill someone--Florida needs to be wacked off and set adrift.

I think they all add something positive. I'd rather keep em and try and make them better.

Funny, Kansas is one of my finalists. But of course I'd make sure you were evacuated first.

    But the winner is: TEXAS!

I lived there over 4 years, and I can personally vouch it's as bad as the news reports make it, maybe even worse. Socially backwards and ideologically primitive, it sets the pace many other bigoted States follow. Kick it out, let Mexico have it back, and the other offenders might start to reform and move into the 21st Century.

Haha. My vote goes to TX. Responsible for Bush. Period.

Btw. 23 states have Stand your ground laws. FL was only the first in 05.

    Without hesitation.......TEXAS.

There are other states that contribute basically nothing, but the landscape is at least beautiful and I would really miss not being able to go there....like Florida.

    Ha
I'm seeing a lot of guys that obviously drive electric cars.

-For financial reasons it should be Alaska, spending nearly twice the federal money then they bring in; fallowed closely by Virgina.

I lived in Texas for a few years. And, as much of a eyerolll-burden as Texas may be, it does contribute over US$1 Trillion i GDP to the Union.

Besides, there are some awfully fine men in Texas.

I lived in Texas for a while and it is like a lot of Southern states in that the big cities are great and the rest of the state sucks but has political control. Arizona is the same. Georgia. North Carolina. The one state I've lived in that seems to have zero redeeming citizen is Alabama. So I vote ALABAMA!

(Though Mississippi is just as bad. What happens when someone moves from Alabama to Mississippi? The average IQ of both states rises.)

Kuwait? We can't even decide what to do with Puerto Rico or D.C.

I say Hawaii, because of the vocal subset of native Hawaiians who think that independence would solve all their problems.

If you're willing to return Washington State to Canada we'll take it! Alaska would be nice, too, especially since the Brits betrayed their LOYAL colony by agreeing to give half of it to you guys over our strenuous objections!

(The folks there have to agree to register their hand guns, accept the concept of free healthcare and fix their spelling first, though!)
