How do you stay positive and in an upbeat mood after dealing with dating, family issues, and just life's problems in general? I am going through a rough time financially and my family life as well because of it. My friends and the guys I have been talking to have been irritating me and I just can't feel anything positive as much. I TRY to think good, positive thoughts but at the end of the day I feel like a failure. Like something is just not going right and I don't get it.

How do you deal when you feel alone and trapped in your own mind/body?

During tough times I usually will try to find a way to go with my hobbies...like books, movies, music, etc. Trust me, it helps a lot. If you're lucky to have good reliable friends, discussing with them will do wonders.

It is not a permanent solution but it helps me to calm down and think for ways to get over with the frustration, worry, tensions, pain. Sometimes you'll be surprised when a solution comes to your thoughts from nowhere. And also I'll read some philosophy or watch biography documentaries...it'll give me emotional strength to endure the negative feelings.

To each it's different...find a way to distract yourself for a while with your hobbies and people who makes you feel relax. If there's any park nearby, GO and take a long walk, sit on the park bench for a while. Our relationship with mother nature is very intimate, it will bring calmness and peace in the midst of tragedy.
if you have a dog, take him out for a walk...

Distract yourself as long as you need with your hobbies or try something new. Stay away as long as it takes depending on the situation you're in and the necessity of your presence in those stressful situations. All the best.

I recommend the guided imagery and affirmation tools, developed by mental health professionals, available on this site:

These products were recommended to me by a licensed healthcare professional. I have used one of the products, and found it effective. I have no professional, commercial or personal connection to the products on this site or those who sell them.
