    NYT: A study of data from 188 countries finds that obesity abounds in rich and poor countries alike, and sometimes neighbors have quite different levels.

    Obviously, obesity is a serious problem worldwide, not just in the US and Mexico.

    It would be interesting to see some description of the traditional diets of many of these countries. So many cuisines are developed from scarcity that when a country starts climbing out of poverty, the same subsistence foods and flavors in larger quantities naturally cause obesity. And, of course, there's the international spread of McDonalds, Yum, and Coke.

    Obese people are everywhere, we get it, but the land whales of America far outnumber the same sorts of out of control piggies of other countries.
