I'm not sure if this has been posted yet. It's probably a hoax, but I do think it's a bit disturbing either way. I lived in Seattle for over 15 years and while there was some anti-gay violence on occasion, I can't remember a threat quite like this while I was there.

There are some crazy people out there. I guess people just need to start being aware of their surroundings, be careful about your drinks, stop snorting drugs/ingesting since this substance can be inhaled/digested.

I hope they contacted The FBI or and Homeland Security this is there job. To protect Americans against both domestic and International threats!
This needs to be taken seriously. WOW! It does not matter what this person motivation is or was the bottom line is that this is a terrorist threat. I don't really care about the why I'm more concerned about the possible execution! icon_mad.gif

So far only Seattle PD has been contected and nothing further has been done! That's a SHOCK!icon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_eek.gif

I lived in Seattle 5 years, and the police were not very gay friendly. Not sure if that's improved any, but I'll bet they aren't giving this a lot of priority, prolly have not preserved the letters evidence properly so good fingerprints & DNA can be lifted.

There are some people out there that see gay americans as a serious threat to thier way of life. They can and will do anything they think will help thier cause.

Recently the Pope made some remarks that I believe could have started a whole new trend to eliminate us. I could see how some religious person could take matter into thier owns hands in such ways.

They have in the past bombed abortion clinics and doctors for simular reasons.

I hope this was taken with complete seriousness by authorities. I also hope all gay americans especially in Seattle now will keep a watchful eye. Yet also I hope it does not stop any of them from going to these establishments. If they do stop going due to fear, then this person won

In today's modern day and age, such threatening anti-gay sentiments are not only disgusting but don't make any sense. When are some of these right wing wackos going to wake up and smell the coffee and admit that they are dead wrong about us gay Americans.

The amount of material that the writer claims to have doesn't seem very credible. In all likelihood, there is nothing to it.

Still, it seems very odd that this is only being reported in The Stranger. Both the PI and the Boregonion carried the usual assortment of fake envirobabble panic-mongering stories this morning. One would think that they would absolutely jump on this.

I suppose that the bar-owners will have to take precautions anyway. It also seems very strange that the cops seem to have under-reacted. In light of last months "fake" bomb scare that killed two cops, one would think that they should over react.

It's not just being reported in The Stranger ... The Seattle Times is reporting it to:

Not much more information but it does say that the Seattle Police is processing the letters and coordinating with the FBI ...

They had better. This would be making screaming headlines all over the country if these weren't gay bars being threatened.

I've been to a number of them, BTW. CC Atttle's was my favorite place for a gin martini. The Cuff is a great leather bar, much better than the Seattle Eagle (where I did see guys fucking on the upstairs pool table, though). I also knew Neighbours, R Place, Re-bar and the Wildrose.

That might not be too far from the truth. Part of the letter was plagiarized from a gay poet:
