    Hi everyone !
I've just registered to a gym for the first time (better late than never !) It's a goodlife fitness in Toronto.

Besides being a work out newbie, I'm French and my English is far from perfect.

So, my first question is about the conditioner that is offered in the shower. Is it something for hair or is it a skin conditioner ?

Then, they offer moisturizing lotion in the changing room. I don't understand why it is particularly needed in a gym ...

Same question for the sauna (not that I am annoyed by it, quite the opposite !) Is it just about relaxing or is there something linked to muscles recovery ?

Again, I know these are really obvious facts for most of you but I would like to understand ^^

    Thanks !

"Conditioner" is for the hair (on your head!)

"Moisturizer" is for the skin: hands, face, anywhere else you feel you need it (but not there - at least, not in public).

Wow, your gym sounds quite fancy. At my gym LA Fitness, we are offered only a cheap body wash. No shampoo, conditioner, or lotion. Not even hair dryer.

I think someone else already answered about conditioner and moisturizer.

Some people use sauna as a way to relax their muscle after work out. Some people go into a few rounds of sauna then cold shower or cold dip for relaxation too.

At least you are spared the sight of old geezers drying their pubes then.

Not really. I still see them standing by the hand dryer naked.

    DON'T USE THEM

They will make you more promiscuous, in-turn will give you HIV.

In most gyms, the shampoo, body wash, and hand soap are all the same. icon_biggrin.gif

If Jmusc is still here, he'd be able to tell us what his $79/month gym offers. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

When someone is using a machine you want to use, say to them:
"Have you got many sets left?"
They will either say 1 (hooray), or 2+ (in which case you can ask to swap sets with them, compatible exercise permitting).
    Never say:

"Are you going to be long?"
    "Can you hurry up please?"
"Are you using the machine or just texting?"
"Why are you using such a light weight?"
"Do you know what you are doing?"
"Can me and my 4 friends swap sets with you?"

If someone is waiting for something you are using you can proactively offer to swap sets with them. There will be a time at a later date that they return the favour when you are in a hurry.
