I have two broken shoulders now, which makes it very hard and painful to work out like I used to.

    Anyone else have such problems?

I watched a guy break his shoulder at the bike park a couple weeks ago. He landed the big jump perfectly then wiped out on a small one. icon_lol.gif

Sorry I don't have any advice, though, other than see a doc who specializes in sports medicine (the non-sports docs tend to prescribe 'rest' for everything).

I have a lot of shoulder problems as well. When it flares up I go on high doses of IBprofuen, ice, and physical therapy. Usually end up having to take a week or two off the gym.

I've had a sore right shoulder for over a year now. I've had 2 MRIs and it's a right rotator cuff tear. I've tried rest, Tylenol, Naproxen(prescribed by my doctor). I've had 4 Prolotherapy treatments which initially I was very hopeful about because it has a high success rate but it has not worked for me. I've got one more treatment next month and if I don't see improvement I'm going back to the Orthopedic surgeon who I consulted with back in the winter. There are surgical options, depending on the extent of damage but arthroscopic surgery is less invasive and the recovery time is faster. I wanted to avoid surgery but I'm to the point now where I'm sick and tired of being sore, I just want it fixed!

What does a broken shoulder mean? Broken bones? Sounds terrible.

I've come to learn I have a torn labrum in my right shoulder, which I'll be getting arthroscopic surgery on in two weeks. I haven't been able to lift, do pushups, etc in a year+. Sucks to go under the knife but ready to be healthy again!

Also good luck ChicagoSteve! I would seek out people who've had similar problems, and had the surgery to see what the result was. I happened upon a couple of people who had the same thing I have fixed, and said they are as good as new, so I'm hopeful and it got me off the fence to just do it.

My right shoulder is a glenoid labrum which has an anchor now and has hurt everything I do with it, and limited it quite a bit. I hope your's comes out better than mine.

I am a personal trainer, since 92. Not one doctor, physioptherapist of medical professional said anything to me that worked, and I wasn't going to go for surgery. I went 15 years with agony until I decided to try something different to augment my skills. I started to take Pilates. Now I train Pilates instructors.
Within 3 exercises, the first day, the pain was starting to subside. I got angry. Livid, in fact, since the solution to my problem had been right in front of me for years! Within a few sessions, the pain was cut in half, and even gone at the end of the session. Now it rarely bothers me, except after long-haul travel.
Most shoulder pain can be alleviated through exercising the posterior deltoid and the supraspinatus with strict form (Pilates will give you that strict form).
    Best wishes.

I have had "SLAP" Tear Glenoid Lambrium. Over 60 percent of ligaments are gone and basically shoulder isnt attatch securley. Needless to say, it was extreamly painful to bench press or any kind of exercise in upper body. I had surgery which put me out at least 1 year 1/2 . I had it done in 2011 and now I am just returning to gym. I have also gained allot of weight from not goinig to the gym regular. The best thing to do is talk with a Ortho Shoulder specialist and see if any thing can be done.

After the surgery it did take some time to heal but, overall I am better since I had it done.

Since my last post, I have tried acupuncture and feel it has been the only thing that has actually helped. Since October, 2014 I have had 5 treatments and have seen a dramatic reduction in pain and inflammation, after 3 solid years of virtually having constant shoulder pain.
