Online Dating: In online dating, women worry about meeting a serial killer, men worry about meeting someone fat.

I'm watching a documentary, "When Strangers Click: Five Stories from the Internet."

The Internet should be use for entertainment purposes only, and NOT for dating or meeting people.

Not worrying about meeting someone fat, just someone who is a jerk or someone that is disgustingicon_lol.gif. People meet online all the time but don't take it too serious.

Just like a condoms should be used for balloons at birthday parties, not sticking them in people's butts. Right? icon_razz.gif

My dearest LEANDRO, you know I can't agree with that. I met my first partner online, and also my current partner. And I've met dozens of guys in person through RJ (including Paul in this same thread). Became interested and got started in golfing through guys I met IRL through RJ.

But I would agree that the Internet carries risks, and I never used gay sites intended primarily for hook-ups. That's asking for trouble, and perhaps that's what you mean.

I want to echo the above point from the documentary. The documentary gave a significant percentage (22% I think, it was 20 something percent) of heterosexual marriages coming from online dating. The first segment in the documentary was a successful heterosexual internet-generated happy family beginning. The last segment also generated offspring.

I believe it but seems you have to go to sites that are geared to what you are looking for but that is not set in stone.

That's easy to say coming from someone who very likely lives near gay bars, or places with gay outings.
If you don't live in a major city, as a gay man you are S.O.L. my friend, unless you enjoy the idea of driving 3 hours just to go on a date.
