The homosexual mayor of Atlantic City Don Guardian on Monday June 16, 2014. It is marked by a prominent rainbow flag on the boardwalk at the end of Park Place, in front of the Claridge Casino. Mayor Guardian joked that the gay beach historically has been in front of the Claridge - for "obvious reasons" referring to the phallic architecture of the hotel. LGBT events will be held throughout the summer in various AC venues, including an underwear party after midnight Friday into Saturday at Claridge. Might cause some to consider changing the City's official slogan "DO AC" to "Do ME in AC"!

I'll have to check this out, not to far where I would normally go in AC.

When did Atlantic City elect an openly gay mayoricon_question.gif I guess times have really changed for the better on the South Jersey Shore.

Doesn't one of the casinos have a gay club or at least gay nights at least? Issue is there is only one small gay bar in the entire city. Brass Rail was open 24/7 and Studio Six was open really late. They closed.

I saw somewhere where Resorts had the gay themed club Prohibition but it says on a site that it is now closed.

how did it fail though? was it the location? geez, gay folks gotta support their local gay bar.

Perhaps. It was on an upper floor of the hotel and also getting to the proper elevator bank was a chore. I don't know if that was the last gay bar in AC. Does anyone know? Brass Rail closed some years ago.

I remember that the gay bar is small and off the beaten track. Atlantic City is just good for a day trip really. Go to the beach. If you go past Bally's right past the Convention Center it isn't crowded at all. They have outlet stores too to shop in and get on the web at Starbucks and that is about it. If you are looking for a thriving gay presence not there. I go there so I guess that makes it gay icon_lol.gif. If you are looking to mingle though, nowhere really to do it at unless you hunt. Brass Rail/Studio Six was right by Sands and they had a pool. They were also close to the beach and boardwalk. If you are looking to mingle, Rehoboth is the place to go but looking to try Asbury Park.

The only bar in Atlantic City is The Rainbow Room:
    55 S Bellevue Ave
    Atlantic City, NJ 08401

As I said off the beaten track in a sketchy area from what I read. I generally wouldn't wonder through Atlantic City. Park near the Outlets, walk up to the beach, shop a little and that is about it.

More importantly, Atlantic City is home to the world's biggest organ.

    Theater organ, that is.

Yes, Unfortunately. Last year, they tried to do a gay night at The burlesque club in the new Revel Casino with male dancers. It was on Weds. or Thurs., I can't remember anymore. The Male Burlesque show was actually quite good, but except for the opening night, the event never caught on, and it faded away after about 4 months.

There is, however, going to be a NEW gay night at the new Scores Strip Club at The Tahj Mahal Casino. It starts this Sunday, and will feature drag queens, guy dancers, etc. :

The gay scene in AC is a bust, despite numerous straight bars and clubs in all of the casinos, with several being among the top in the country. The fact is many of the gay men and women in the surrounding areas actually go to the straight clubs (as I do) and I think that's the problem with gay clubs in AC. I do hope some of these new efforts succeed.

What will be well received is the annual SandBlast Gay Beach Party, which was moved from Asbury Park to AC. I'm planning on attending and it should be a real BLAST!

Apparently the Revel just can't catch a break. It filed Chapter 11 BK for the second time in 13 months and sent a WARN notice out that it could close as early as August 18th (60 days WARN provision from date of notice resulted in that date, but probably will stay open until summer is over as that season is cash poz), if a buyer is not found for this $2.4B new casino which opened on April 2, 2012.

Well if Atlantic City is too ghetto and too gross for you guys, there are other wonderful places along the beautiful, scenic New Jersey Shore. Take the Garden State Parkway south to the very end and follow NJ Route 109 into the historic seaside town of Cape May with all its gorgeous Victorian mansions and homes. Its beaches are beautiful and very wide. There are always comforting seaside breezes coming off the ocean. If Cape May doesn't sound interesting to you than head north on the Garden State Parkway and head into Asbury Park which is a fun filled, gay friendly seaside town. I have heard the gay party scene in Asbury Park is outstanding with lots of hunky, sun tanned men on the prowl either on the beach or throughout the town.

WILDWOOD was the place when I was in HS. Amazing how commercialized the place has gotten. Still has those great, wide beaches tho...but no more .99c breakfasts...

Oh those wild wild Wildwood days...every day's a holiday! Yes been there many a time too. On another sad note, another AC casino bites the dust: Showboat is probably closing too.
