This morning the Cleveland Browns (out-of-towners stop laughing) will announce that Mangini, recently fired from the Jets, will become the new head coach, signing a 4 year deal. I'd like some RJ football fans to weigh in:

What do you know about Mangini?
How has he been as the Jets coach?
Why was he let go from NY?
How do you think he will perfomr in Cleveland?

For at least 10 years (since the expansion Bronws team began) fans here have been hoping for "next year". I know that this NFL year isn't over yet, but a Bronws fans, we have no choice but to look forward...
It's hard to be a Browns fan, but we stick with them. If you're a fan, why do you stick with them?

Given the fact here in KC we have a Jets castoff in Herm Edwards, and the last two years have been 4-12 and 2-14....good luck with Mangini. What is it about coaching the Jets that makes other teams want to hire their coaches?

His success was mixed in NY. I think this year with Favre, and not making the playoffs...that was the coaching equivalent of the grim reaper knocking on your door.

Mangini also was some kind of whiz kid I think with the Patriots. Hence the frosty meetings between him and Belichick (sp?)

No clue as to how he will do. Cleveland was supposed to make a run this year, and tanked almost as bad as KC. Anything is possible for next year.

I think your mistake was putting "Browns" in the title. Think of what you would reply in a thread that I might start up with "Orioles" in the title.... no one outside of Cleveland is worried about the Browns, and so few in Cleveland are going to be egar to annouce thier allegiance.

Im with you with not knowing what to expect with Mangini, all i know is that they need some new direction with the disappointment we had to experience as Browns fans this year, or every year for that matter. haha. We have some really good talent on our team, we just need a coach who can reign that in, and also keep our players healthy. All I can say is Crennel wasnt doin that, so we once again are sitting back saying 'maybe next year'

Good luck with the Mangenius. I don't know much about the Jets but I was following them this year because I am a Packer fan and was hoping Favre did well there. Most of what I know are things I've picked up from Mike and Tony on ESPN's Pardon The Interruption.

Mangini worked his way up from a gopher to a coaching job and was one of the youngest head coaches ever. He did well his first year with the Jets but followed it up with an awful season. Things were supposed to turn around this year with the signing of Brett Favre. Things were looking up in the middle of the season, especially with a string of victories, the biggest being over the previously unbeaten Titans. At that point people were talking about Favre and the Jets going to the Super Bowl. However things fell apart and they lost most of their remaining games and failed to make the playoffs. They shouldn't feel too bad with the 11-5 Patriots also not making it in. Speaking of the Patriots, Bill Belichick and Mangini despise each other with a passion after Mangini started the whole SpyGate thing. They used to be very close when Mangini was an assistant coach at New England.

Anyway, I'm guessing the fact that the team failed to live up the the high expectations led to Mangini getting fired. Losing to the awful Seahawks didn't help matters, I'm sure. I looked up his record for three seasons with the Jets and it was 23- 25.

I won't fathom a guess as to how he'll do at Cleveland. I guess this means Bill Cowher won't be coaching in Cleveland anytime soon.

Yeah, as DCEric said... nobody outside a two mile radius of Downtown Cleveland cares about the Browns... or who ever they are. icon_wink.gif

Besides... the Vikes are where it's at, and everyone cares about them.

Oh, and yeah I would definitely make out with the dude above me. There, now more people will visit this thread.

    You're welcome. icon_razz.gif
