I guess being "verified" doesn't mean anything anymore.

Have been catfished for the past 4 months by a verified profile. He confessed earlier today and deleted his profile, but how many others have gotten away with this? I think the Real Jock administrators should pay more attention to what they approve. Hard to trust anyone anymore.

I've said it once, I'll say it again...

"VERIFIED" isn't shit but 8 pretty little letters in the top right corner...the profile pics tell it all...

I believe verification should be done with a short video. I mean, once you get verified, it's very easy to just hide all of your original pics and then upload different ones while verified.

There are many Verified profiles that are actually fake. Always have, and always will. It's really easy on this site. There's only one guy approving all the pics. So you can see how this sort of thing happens.

You're lucky it was only 4 months. Some have been fooled for years! And a few got scammed out of money. icon_confused.gif

Best thing to do is, perform your own verification before you get emotionally attached to someone. Ask him to get on cam.. Skype, Apple Facetime, Google Hangout, whatever. Nothing kinky or naked. Just a quick chat to see each other's face, and see/hear each other speak.

And make sure that shit is real time. There's software out there that can fake video chat. If the video looks suspicious, like he's not moving much or seems to be doing the same thing over again, ask him to do something unique.. like write his name on a piece of paper and show it to you on the cam, etc.

Funny because many of the regulars here will point out others' lack of verification or photos to discredit them on opinions they disagree with, when the truth is that many guys just don't want to be caught dead on a gay online forum lol. To use a Chinese saying, they want to "drag you into the water" with them

Not everyone who is Verified is fake.
People just have to be more careful I guess.

People saying that verification is pointless is a flimsy and pathetic way to not get verified so that they can create even more sock accounts. Nice try though. I see what you're all doing.

    +1

Also, chatting with someone for 4 months and never getting them to webcam or their Instagram, FB, Snapchat, Twitter etc. seriously?

It's not that hard to find out if someone is real or not.

I think that an issue could be that a person accidentally posts a pic with the sign realjock 123 to the regular profile and someone notices that. They can then use them to verify themselves. It is important not to do that.

This is just more valid proof that profile verification is totally ineffective in combatting phony profiles. It doesn't prevent shit from happening. This is why I never bothered to verify my profile. This is why I have been saying all along that profile verification is idiotic and unnecessary.
