Hey guys! Well, the fourth season of Game of Thrones was over but it was one hell of a ride! What did you think of it? You consider this season better than the others? You think it strayed way too much from the books? Share your thoughts!

I really enjoyed this season! It had 3 epic episodes in my opinion. It is straying from the books but they are both entertaining in their own way! Love Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey!! Perfectly cast!

It's been a great mix of things you see coming along with complete surprises, really fun to watch despite the high death rate for characters.
I made the mistake of getting hooked on it before it was all done and available in box set (like I did with Breaking Bad). Now I'm STUCK waiting around for the next season with everyone else! icon_mad.gif

p.s. -- I can't believe Queen Elizabeth declined to site on the Iron Throne when she visited the set in Northern Ireland because it 'didn't look comfortable'. UGH!

I just felt like the Daenerys story arc was really weak this season... And I get that they have a limited budget but damn, I love seeing those dragons!
I think the last episode was very good and it really set things in motion for the next season! And please, Peter Dinklage better get an Emmy this year. His speech (you know which one I'm talking about) was amazing and I think he delivered every single line! And the face of Arya in the last episode, that was truly an epic moment.
I have to agree, the casting has been top notch... Pedro Pascal played the perfect Oberyn Martell icon_biggrin.gif

Oh yeah! The actors MAKE this series come alive and so much fun to watch. Peter as Tyrion has the best lines, I think. It makes sense to me that Daenerys would get bogged down after so many accomplishments but yeah, I hope it doesn't stay like that. I doubt it will.
And hey, Team Hodor has finally become interesting!

Yeah! Bran's storyline has never been so interesting! The CGI in this series is REALLY good giving the fact that we're talking about a TV show.
Okok, I gotta ask you this: Who do you want to sit on the Iron Throne?

I think it was among the best seasons thanks to the last 3 episodes; the middle episodes felt weaker and slower in my opinion, as they cut off many superb scenes and dialogues from the books for more predictible ones.
But after episode 8, the narrative holds you tight on the sofa.

It looks like they are going to overtake the books. Finally I will get revenge on the dicks who spoilt the surprises in the last 4 seasons icon_twisted.gif

Call me a book purist or whatever but the season was kinda disappointing. :/ There were things they got right but yet sooo many things they got so so wrong. I felt they embraced the unnecessary violence and sexual violence, and totally let go of the really amazing dialogue they usually get especially in the books.

Idk the book which this season is based on has SO MANY things happening and I guess I was just left disappointed especially with how much material they got to work with.

Next season they cannot fuck up the Jon/Stannis/Melisandre dynamic as it is one of the best things coming up (everything between Jon and Stannis I fanboy like crazy I love them both and I love both their dynamics).

My favourite house is the Martells and while I LOVED Pedro Pascal (ayyyy papi) the role was clearly whitewashed. I was hoping for an Arab to fulfil the role...but I guess that won't be the case when they cast the rest of the Martells. icon_sad.gif

Eh that's honestly the most immature things casual viewers can say right now. Literally only a portion of book readers have spoilt the books - and honestly you can't blame them when the book which this season is based on came out 14 years ago and the series began in 1996. It's like getting mad at Harry Potter spoilers lmaooo. When I read the books I came through spoilers but never complained - you're on the internet so you kinda have to watch out for yourself.

Other than that at this point I HOPE they deviate from the books (like the Lady Stoneheart-gate) so the more they deviate from the final books the better for me. The worst the show gets the happier I'll be haha icon_twisted.gif (I'm obviously kidding but with the things the writers have come up with honestly you realise how much they relied on the source material as most of the stuff they came up with was really Hollywood and lacklustre writing).

Don't forget that they only have 10 hours per season to pretty much adapt an entire book with so many different storylines. And all that within the budget. I feel like, despite everything, the creators made a wonderful job recreating the world from the book which is extremely vast and despite some boring episodes in the middle of this season, the final result has pretty much been accomplished flawlessly.

I have to agree with Ohno - I know it may seem childish and immature but I was so angry when I accidentally read online about the Purple Wedding (fortunatelly, I was completely caught by surprise on the Red Wedding)that I wouldn't mind getting me some sweet revenge. I mean, it didn't matter how careful you were, there would always be a smartass spoiling the whole thing for everybody simply out of despite.

Exactly, take for example the articles in all the papers before the first series saying about a new fantasy series starring Sean Bean. It might not be recent but the people who have away spoilers in the comments under those articles, did anyone think they were being clever, or even reasonable?

Obvy but there are soo many things that could have been fixed with just 30 seconds of dialogue and taking away unnecessary violence. I mean, Oberyn Martell for example, there is SO MUCH complexity and background over his character, and yet most of his scenes were him talking about sex and brothels and more sex...the creators did a good job, but after The Red Wedding, more and more people are expecting those OMG moments and they have to dumb the show down. The show is R rated right? Surely people are smart enough to understand even the most subtle dialogue.

I understand that characters have to be simplified to appeal to the audience (in the books Tyrion is the greyest of grey characters and has quite twisted internal dialogue, Sansa's story moves much slower but we understand her, Cersei is stupid and cruel and murderous, etc.) but these things are not hard to achieve. I must say this season's writing was not up to par and the direction was not the best either. There were many great moments but also some flops.

Still think the show should have a different ending though. And at this rate I HOPE that's where they're going for as to not spoil the books for us loyal book readers (many of whom have been fans since before the show so the show pretty much owes it to them).

I thought the finale of season 4 was good. Only parts that were a bit of a let down was when tyrion was escaping and the deaths that occur. It didnt seem as dramatic as i thought it would

Love the fight with brienne and sandor

Very disappointing however to learn that lady stoneheart will not be in the show. was hoping that she would be the ending scene in the finale to make me more excited about next season

It didn't even look like Tywin would die from those two crossbow bolts. Even the whore from last season required more than that! He deserved to at least get one to the eye or forehead...

That's exactly what I thought in the middle of the season.
