It always amazes me at how out of touch the west is with the rest of the world. It is to the point where things like this make the news (not that this isn't news worth) and it isn't hard to believe, but the humanitrian distaster building in eastern Africa is completely being ignored.
Again this is news worthy, but this is typical in Africa- what is not typically is the building fiasco in Kenya. Other pieces of African news that don't hit the world news cycle: Ghanas elections demostrating stability in west Africa, Botswanas near decrimilization of gay sex (failed because the bill inluded same-sex marriage, the border clashes (and possible war) between Ethiopia and Eritrea, 3 feet (1 meter/metre) of rainfall in 2 weeks in southern Mozambique prompting a humanitrian distaster.
...and that is just what I remember from December and early January off the top of my head.
