What are some unique, weird, or cool hobbies y'all have?

I don't really know if this is ''weird'' or even cool. My but i make chain necklaces from time to time as a hobby. I usually cut them out as long as i need them... and then kind of burn them into place.

I wear chains a lot as necklaces cause i like the extra weight. Also, since I'm on a hardcore cut. i wear it for extra weight and to burn extra calories when i walk or workout. Also like to wear it for extra pressure when lifting! so it's not as easy.

I also like to take wood and barb wire and make guitar straps from them. I actually have one i wear that i made for my bass! the barb wire is sealed down so it doesn't cut haha.

Tell me what unique hobbies y'all have!

My weirdest hobby is to play with progs such as Flash, After Effects, or Fruity loops. (in other words Animation, Video editing, and Music). I just started playing with After effects, but I think I need to upgrade my not-so-powerful hardware for that.

Yeah, you need a super-powerful processor for After Effects. I have Fruity Loops (now called FL Studio) on all my PC's, my iPhone, and iPad. Haven't used it in forever, though.

Ahh! i've had to use all those icon_biggrin.gif my job (and degree) is doing sound design for commercials, music videos, short films, documentaries etc. And i started with all that software! good times. I also do composing on the side and would mix in fruity loops! and sometimes would do my own music... and do a fruity loops sample icon_lol.gif

After Effects i used when i was in film school. We had to learn every aspect of film! even doing effects and other things. Never got very far with it sadly...

I'm a tournament Scrabble player. Will be playing in the World Championships in London this November for the first time. Last year I played in the open division (one level below the World Championship division) and won it, so moving up to take on the World Championship division this fall!

I used to love fishes, aquariums until they all died on me a couple months ago. So I have an empty 15 gallons tank with several bettas tanks. Lol, I collect travel books (top 10 series) and I like going to the beach. (I have like 10 pairs of Aussiebum/Swimwear). Does skinny dipping count as a hobby, too>? lol icon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

I garden bamboo, many of which are being grown into a tunnel aka a bamboo cathedral. So far I'm growing I think more than 300 clumps of these guys. Now into growing season, the garden is sprouting more than 600 new culms at one time and some of those grow at about 6 inches a day. I understand some species can grow 3 ft a day though I've not yet seen that.

I have however noticed that the squirrels seem confused.

So far (it's a little addictive) I've got these guys growing....

Dendrocalamus sp. 'Parker Giant' which gets about 80 ft on a 7 inch diameter culm.

Bambusa chungii -Tropical Blue Bamboo 30 ft by 2 in

Bambusa eutuldoides 'Viridivittata' - Asian Lemon Bamboo 25 ft by 1 in

Bambusa lako - Timor Black Bamboo 40 ft by 3 in

Bambusa malingensis - Maling or Seabreeze Bamboo 35 ft by 2 in

Bambusa oldhamii - Oldham's Bamboo 55 ft by 4 in

Bambusa pervariabilis 'Viridistriata'- Sunburst Bamboo 45 ft by 2.5 in

Bambusa textilis var. gracilis -Graceful Bamboo 25 ft by 1 in

Bambusa vulgaris 'Vittata' - Golden Hawaiian Bamboo 50 ft by 4 inches

Bambusa vulgaris 'Wamin' - Dwarf Buddha Belly Bamboo 15 ft by 3 in

Dendrocalamus asper 'Betung Hitam' - Black Asper Bamboo 70 ft by 6 in

Dendrocalamus minor 'Amoenus' - Angel Mist Bamboo 35 ft by 3 in

Gigantochloa atroviolacea- Tropical Black Bamboo 40 ft by 3 in

Bambusa membranacea var. Striata 50 ft by 4 in

Bambusa multiplex 'Alphonse Karr' 20 ft by 1 in

Bambusa nana - Thai Beauty Bamboo 25 ft by 2.5 in

Bambusa textilis 'Scranton' 35 ft by 2 in

Bambusa textilis 'Kanapaha' - Royal Bamboo 50 ft by 4 in

Bambusa emeiensis 'Flavidovirens' 35 ft by 2.5 in

Dendrocalamus brandisii - Teddy Bear Bamboo 60 ft by 4 in

Otatea acuminata ssp. aztecorum - Mexican Weeping Bamboo 20 ft by 3/4 in

Thyrsostachys siamensis - Monastery Bamboo 40 ft by 3 in

    squirrel.jpg

Section of tunnel. That took about four-five years to grow...

That will have lots more sized-up culms this season and then will leaf-out more next season. Also the cathedral ceiling should be mostly formed by next year.

I'm a demon-fighting swordsman. No big deal or anything.

Kidding. I make/collect instruments of death, and try to learn how to put them to good use.
My dad and I made this sword out of scrap steel and brass.

I'm generally huge into the DARK MEDIEVAL TIMES. My own home will consist of black stone/brick walls and candle sconces. I will also fashion furniture out of bent steel. I can't wait to wear a very long tattered cloak and play the pipe organ menacingly.

    Also, hail Satan. |m| (-_-) |m|

I have this passion for exotic plants and jungle style gardening.

Outside I currently have three palms (one of which is around 8 feet tall now), bamboos, lush shrubs and a giant Japanese banana plant, which stands proud at nearly 20 feet tall icon_cool.gif

Holy shit. Is growing bamboo legal where you live? Here it's outlawed because it's a highly invasive species.

One of my roomies would be a perfect match for you if he were gay. Only difference is he's heavily into Nordic Mythology, which parallels nicely with medieval times.

I'm huge into Norse mythology as well. My friend made my necklace, she based it off Yggdrasil, the tree of life! I think it gives me good luck.

Everyone check out her Etsy she makes beautiful art and jewelry and best of all she lives a few doors down from me! I can browse her wares whenever I feel like it ahaha.

Awesome! He has no physical items of that culture, but he plays Skyrim and can explain every single thing as he goes along. I told him that since his character is a Dragonborn, I'm gonna make dragon costumes one day so we can do "Dragonporn" together (he's kinda cute btw). icon_lol.gif
