I'm not sure why the "fully gay" was put in quotation marks. Perhaps he was only "semi-gay" and then they scrapped the idea. Either way I'm so excited and he looks like Freddie Mercury mixed with Oberyn from Game of Thrones.

It can only be a good thing.

Now kids with homophobe parents- who want to play the latest Dragon Age- will have some interesting questions for Mommie and Daddy !!

Something like that I'm sure. icon_lol.gif

The real reason is why?? Aren't we being exploited? I just feel gays are being put in shows or games to create some wow effect or to be edgy, not because they are trying to teach or anything. The fact it's news just proves it

I could not stand how whiny the males were in DA:II, and I never really liked Zevran. I hope Dorian is less crazy than the rest, it would be nice to actually consider the romantic plot engaging and interesting again like I thought Morrigan's was.

You'd think so, but no. icon_razz.gif The sex scenes are laughably mellow.
Bioware is sort of famous for inserting sex into its games as early as 2000 in Baldur's Gate 2 (maybe earlier, I'm not sure). Some say they do it for controversy sake alone to earn sales.

The western RPG culture generally demands deep and interesting characters. Romance is only a small facet of a good character's development and plot. Think of it as reading an adventure novel in which you control the protagonist. If your protagonist chooses to interact more with certain characters, you learn more about them and hear their interesting stories. Or woo them awkwardly. Usually, I tend to feel that the romance features are strange and unnatural at best. I feel the same way about romance in movies too.

They put FULLY Gay because you've always had a CHOICE to have a relationship with a man.
And Mass Effect 3 had a fully gay character too, he had a husband but the reapers killed him.

There's also another ally in the game named Iron Bull who's a qunari, extremely tall muscled race with horns, who as the directors put it "will be with anyone who he thinks he won't break". I think he might be an interesting choice too haha.

In reality I do feel we are being "used" in order to meet some bs diversity quota, but this is how representation kinda starts. It normalizes gay people, not just heteros. I think it can only do more good than bad as a small step.

LIES! Hello, the most popular video game series in the world, GRAND THEFT AUTO, did an installement called GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony.

Gay Tony, the first guy to own all the hottest straight and Gay bars in Liberty City, had his own game. Sure he had drug problems and hired murderers. BUT, geez, he was pretty damn openly Gay since them named the friggin' game after him!

You play a Hispanic guy who works for Gay Tony as his life unravels. Gasp! How did that happen?

Fable: The Lost Chapters allows players to be either gay or straight. You can seduce, court and marry the partner of your choice. You can go on dates, give each other gifts, and have sex. (non-graphic)

Spoiler: To beat the game, you fight your way through a zombie-filled graveyard, go through a portal and defeat a dragon.

I would argue for this game though that while did allow you to choose a mate of either sex it also didn't matter or pertain to the plot at all. It was essentially like choosing what armor or home your character would use unlike later games where the fact a person is gay is either part of the plot or character itself.

Hate to break it to you, but he's not the first gay video game character.

Not even the first gay video game character in the player's party.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_characters_in_video_games

It's getting publicity possibly because of the name of the company.

    Sorry guys.
